This unique earth-sheltered 2BR/2BA home offers both a feeling of seclusion and sweeping, breathtaking views of the Continental Divide. Enjoy the wide open ranch feeling of this home and property. To the right of the entryway is the Great Room, consisting of the kitchen, dining and living areas. The home's focal point, a hearth-to-ceiling copper-clad wood-burning fireplace, (please note: the fireplace is currently under repair and temporarily non-functional) is flanked by floor-to-ceiling windows that showcase the view of Longs Peak and the Continental Divide. Guests provide firewood. The kitchen is fully equipped for home-cooked meals, and the dining table comfortably seats six. With cozy couches and a large TV in the living area, the Great Room is perfect for relaxing by the fire for a movie night. Just beyond the fireplace is the spacious patio, protected by a stone wall. Outdoor seating provides the perfect place to sit and admire the view. To the left of the entryway are the two bedrooms, each with its own full bath. The master bedroom features a king bed with a queen sleeper sofa. The ensuite master bath features a jetted tub, shower and two vanities, in addition to a walk-in closet. The guest room features a queen bed and a beautiful stained glass window. Both bedrooms feature bay windows with forest views. The laundry area, to the left of the entryway, connects the 2-car garage to the home and features both a washer and dryer. Just minutes from both town and Rocky Mountain National Park, Stutzhaven in the Mountains is the perfect home base for your Rocky Mountain adventure. Book your stay today! 5.2 miles to downtown Estes Park, 7.8 miles to Beaver Meadows (South) entrance of Rocky Mountain National Park 3.7 miles to Gem Lake Trailhead and Bridal Veil Falls Trailhead in Rocky Mountain National Park. What To Be Aware Of: ALLERGY ALERT: The couch has feather stuffing in the cushions. Parking for 4 cars - 2 in the garage and 2 in the driveway. No large vehicles, i.e. RVs, trailers. Wood-burning fireplace. Guests provide their own wood. No Parties. No Smoking. No Pets. Fines apply. Quiet Time 7p.m. Guests buy their own soaps/paper items when provided starter kit items are depleted. Estes Park is a Dark Sky Community. Bring a Flash Light. BEARS in the area - secure trash, lock doors and windows when leaving. This home does not have a weekly trash pick up service. Trash will be picked up at departure. If necessary, trash will be picked up mid-stay for a nominal fee. Call the office at 970-480-8845\. Trash must not overflow the bear proof trash can or be stored in the garage or home. We reserve the right to conduct a property safety check during long term stays. Local On-Call Staff available after hours for emergency issues only, i.e. gas leak, broken furnace, broken water line. Snow removal by HOA at 4 inches of new snow on guest arrival day. Management provides a starter kit of amenities to get you through your first day, including: an extra roll of toilet paper in each bathroom, one extra roll of paper towels, 2-3 garbage bags, sample-sized bottles of shampoo and conditioner, small bar soap, 2-3 laundry powder packs, 4-5 dishwashing pods, liquid dishwashing soap, and a single brew coffee pack. Guests will need to provide or purchase additional toiletries and products as needed beyond this starter kit. Long-term reservations of 14+ days require mid-stay property safety checks or mid-stay cleans, additional trash pickups. Safety checks are at no additional charge. Mid-stay cleanings include linens change, floors, bathrooms and light surface cleaning. Mid-stay services are charged to the guest, and charges can only be added after your reservation is made. Management will call the guest directly for payment for the required services. The open space between kitchen, living room and dining room allowed us all to be together but still have enough space. And those views... simply breathtaking! The kitchen was well appointed which we appreciated. The bedroom/batherooms were great size and the only small critique we would have is that the queen sized mattress really needs to be updated. My husband and I rolled into one another all night which led to me sleeping on the sofa the second night. Our three year old granddaughter enjoyed exploring the rocks behind the property and loved the neighboring horses as well. We appreciated the convenience to Estes Park as well as Rocky Mountain National Park too. We chose this home because it had AC and in July we thought we would be more comfortable. As soon as we arrived we received a text that the AC and Heat were not working and they had scheduled a repair on the next day. Well the next day we were invaded by the repair team. Unfortunately they had the wrong part, so no heat and no AC for the entire stay. The Unit had been down for some time and they failed to inform us that it was out of service. They intentionally mislead us and should have informed us so we could make other accommodations. That being said that was just the beginning The morning after our arrival we went to make coffee in the kitchen and were overwhelmed by the smell of rotting mice. We could barely stand being in the kitchen. We notified the management company and soon a guy arrived warring rubber gloves and holding some tongs. Under the kitchen sink were mouse droppings and old filthy mouse traps apparently this has been a problem for a long while. The kitchen is old and tired, the frying pans were warped and had no lids, the potato peeler was stuck to the drawer with some unknown sticky Goo. Most of the living room furniture was at least 30-40 years old. The carpet throughout was in terrible condition and should have been replaced years ago. The view windows were filthy and had not been cleaned this year. The Washer and Dryer were at least 40 years. The garage smelled like Mold. Stay Away!!!! ##### Greg T. The view of the mountains from the living room was amazing. We saw elk and deer on/near the property on a daily basis and had a visit from a fox on the patio one evening. As far as the home, it had some things that were outdated (70’s feel when we first walked in) but the location and views more than made up for it. ##### Chad T. It was a comfortable place, and in a wonderful location! The first impression was lacking, however. It is outdated and needs updating. I will say it grew on me the longer I stayed. For the fee charged, based on other VRBOs I’ve rented, I was hoping for nicer amenities and updates. Also, we are from the south, so with the temps being in the 40s overnight (like our winter), extra blankets would have been nice. Again, overall worth the stay for the spectacular views, proximity, and easy access (no crazy steep mountain switchbacks), just a bit overpriced. ##### Patty H. The views from the living room were incredible and the highlight of the stay. The house had everything we needed and was comfortable to stay in. The cleaning company didn’t do a great job though - we found food (dried sausage) and misc objects under the couch. The living room carpet didn’t seem like it was cleaned well either (hair everywhere…not just a strand or two). Otherwise, we rate the house as 9/10! ##### Ashley B. The home is just outside of Estes, so it feels very private. It’s so, so cozy and made for a great spot to have Thanksgiving with family. The house was equipped with everything we needed to cook the whole dinner, too, which was a complete surprise. We would absolutely return again in summer or winter.
