Very well appointed room and a great value. The restaurant on the first floor was also very good.

A true gem! What an unexpected treasure! We loved staying here. Great room and loved the record player. We had heard how nice the rooms were so the real surprise was the restaurant. Quite high end preparation, delicious food, great service and all wrapped in a warm and inviting atmosphere. We’ll be back soon.
Hidden gem! Make your reservation for dinner at the restaurant…locally sourced, fresh, unique options…sooo good! Amazing specialty drinks, too! Friendly and welcoming staff. Cozy accommodations. Who needs tv when there’s a turntable and an eclectic collection of vinyl to choose from? Sit on the floor and choose your favorites to be transported to your teen years…my husband and I had so much fun talking music after an enjoyable dinner. We’ll be back!!!
A wonderful atmosphere and pleasantly attentive staff! One of the most accommodating stays in the Adirondacks! This was my 3rd time there and seems to get better each time!
I would definitely stay here again. Check in was seamless and amenities offered were great. Really enjoyed the high quality toiletries in the bathroom.
Great on-property bar and restaurant. Modern rooms.

The room was nice and suited our needs. The staff downstairs in the restaurant were wonderful and helped us gain access to the inn and our room as it is a contactless checkin. We dined in the restaurant downstairs and had a fantastic meal.
There was an extra sitting room. The place was clean and the bed was comfortable. The contactless check in was very smooth. Convenient location and the food at the restaurant was excellent!
Definitely a cozy inn. Great location next to so many trails. Wasn't able to get dinner in their restaurant and bar downstairs but the menu and space looked good! Only downside, the bed was way too soft for my liking. Overall a good experience.
Beautiful historic inn! We loved all the books and albums! Having a grocery store next door was convenient. Elizabethtown was a short drive to other towns and hiking trails. We loved the beauty of the region and hope to return!
Charming building. Room was very spacious and clean.while the building was one of the oldest in the town, the bathroom was completely modern and I loved it!
Easy check in. Room was comfortable and clean. Really liked the record player in the room. We did not have dinner this time, but the restaurant is quite popular and the food is always very nice.

Stay
No tv, no clock, winow AC considerably noisy
Easy check in, excellent restaurant
A historic property in a rural community. Thankfully, the restaurant is excellent, not only for the food, but as there is literally NO other option in town, less a tiny deli/pizzeria and prepackaged food from a nearby grocery and a gas station. The room was spacious, and the bath had been updated. Overall, very satisfactory.
I didn’t really interact with any staff or really anyone as I was out mountain climbing all day and went straight to the room and didn’t leave until I checked out. I did like the contactless check in. You can go straight to your room upon arrival. I was also happy to see a private bathroom in my room. I’m sure it was mentioned in the listing but with small inns like this sometimes that’s not the case.
The Deer’s Head Inn is, as its name implies.. dead. The revitalization of this building needs serious work; the amenities are nonexistent, the air conditioning was completely out in our room during our stay, and the food was misleading. The overall saving grace could have been the food, but if you’re going to make fancy descriptions and great sounding dishes on your menu, then please ensure they do in fact taste just as phenomenal. Do better, chef!
The experience as a whole was beyond pitiful, and let’s be honest, the room was stifling and extremely uncomfortable (e.g., the bed was not great, and there was no closet). However, a lover of music will enjoy the record player in the room. The shower pressure was great, but watch out for scalding hot sections to surprise you, and obviously the historical value of visiting such a place for history buffs is appealing.
Altogether, not a great experience, and this will, of course, be a one time stay. Sad, just sad. This place is giving Urban Rustic a run for its money! Oof
Stayed here one night as part of a long trip, just another stopping point. Was excited to NOT be in a chain hotel and happy to experience a 200-year-old property. It really is like an antiquated inn in some ways -- no TV or hairdryer (but there was a mini-fridge). On the other hand, totally modern contact-less check-in and out. Actually kind of weirdly impersonal for such an intimate environment. I would have loved to have had a conversation with owners or otherwise learned more history of the place. Room was cute, spacious, and fun, clearly hipster-owned, bed very comfortable. The main draw is the restaurant, which was very good. Dogs stay free, a rare treat, and are welcome at restaurant on front porch, which has heat lamps, but wear layers as mountain nights are cool. It's definitely a nice find in the Adirondacks.
