Affected but also in a way spared from annihilation which could have befallen them in the disastrous fires that roared through the area in January 2013, Bangor Wine & Oyster Shed sits above the town, overlooking Bangor Vineyard, Blackman Bay, Marion Bay and Norfolk Bay where some of Australia's best oysters are grown. Now it is a stop on the way to or from Port Arthur or a retreat after work on Friday nights when it is open in summer until 9.00pm. Award winning wines, cheese & antipasto platters and dishes of the day plus great coffee make this one of my favourite weekend call-bys. It was exceptionally clean, spacious, and very comfortable — especially the bed, which ensured a great night’s sleep. The property was quiet and peaceful, making it perfect for relaxing. The furnishings were beautiful and thoughtfully chosen, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The kitchen was well stocked with all the necessary cookware and utensils, which made preparing meals easy and convenient. The coin-operated washing machine and dryer on-site were also very handy during our stay. The location in the vineyard is absolutely stunning and adds a special charm to the experience. The only minor issue was that the toilet/shower sliding door was a bit difficult to open and close, as it needs to be lifted slightly while sliding. However, this did not affect our overall enjoyment of the stay. I would definitely recommend this place and would happily stay again!
