Constructed in 2016, the Del Mar Beach Cottage is a modern coastal masterpiece designed to refresh the senses and deliver the perfect seaside escape. Visitors frequently note its impeccable architecture, refined details, and the effortless elegance that defines every corner.

At 1,800 square feet, this Cape Cod–style cottage on the Bluffs offers a glimpse of the ocean, golden sunsets, and the gentle rhythm of seaside breezes. Just outside your door, three miles of coastal trails and pristine beach access beckon for morning walks, sunset strolls, or a day of sun and surf.

Soaring ceilings and large windows frame the picturesque ocean and lush landscape, bathing the home in natural light that highlights every refined detail. The layout is airy and inviting, blending casual beachside comfort with elevated modern living.

The upper level hosts the main living area, complete with a stone fireplace, dining space, and a full bathroom. Outside, a manicured courtyard is perfect for sunrise coffee or sunset cocktails. Also upstairs, a petite chef’s kitchen awaits with Bosch appliances, a 4-burner Wolf range, and stone quartzite countertops. Chic European white oak flooring, Italian marble tile, and stone surfaces enhance the home’s sophisticated coastal charm.

This level additionally offers a charming second bedroom with two twin beds and an adjacent cozy bonus room. The second bedroom includes its own private bathroom, ensuring comfort and privacy for all guests.

Colette’s home was a dream! I loved everything about it. Our family of 6 thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Perfectly close to the best beach in San Diego! Beautiful kitchen, natural lightning, cute little patio for breakfast and comfortable beds. I am picky about sheets and happy to report they were cotton! Colette even left the most beautiful, fragrant garden roses in each room. I would definitely come back. Cannot recommend enough.

We stayed at the beach cottage for five weeks and really enjoyed it. Colette was very responsive and even brought over a beautiful, brand new coffee maker, due to a crack in the handle on the old one (although we really could’ve used the old one with no problem ;) Her housekeeper Lucia was wonderful and very kind. She left flowers in the bedrooms and even in the stairwell every time she cleaned (note: weekly cleaning at an extra cost ).The beach is only about a 10 minute walk away. You can go down the cliff and get there quicker, but it was pretty steep for me. I’m a 50-year-old woman in great shape, but didn’t feel comfortable -But the kids ran up and down with no problem! Nice to be able to walk into town to the different restaurants. The only feedback I have is that the kitchen supplies are probably due for a change; the utensils, plates, glasses, etc., seem to have accumulated over the years, consisting of several different patterns, styles, etc.. Nothing an hour in HomeGoods couldn’t fix ;) Otherwise, we loved our stay and definitely will be back.

Love This Cottage

We hated the Del Mar Cottage the minute we walked in - hated that we would eventually have to leave this beautiful, clean and inviting space. We’ve stayed at numerous beach houses and vacation homes; this house is special. Location and proximity to the beach, shops in town and the neighboring communities is unparalleled. Everything you need or want is accounted for, and the host gave spot on recommendations. You should seize the opportunity to stay here if you can. Truly a gem.

Perfect winter getaway

The Beach Cottage was just right for our stay in Del Mar. Just a few blocks to shops, restaurants, and the beach, it was the perfect base for exploring the area. Fresh flowers in vases graced the tables. Its well-stocked cook's kitchen, luxurious bath suites and cozy living and family rooms meant we often just stayed in to prepare meals and read by the fire. By afternoon it was warm enough to soak up sun on the patio in the comfy teak lounge chairs. What few questions or issues we had, the owner, Colette, immediately and graciously resolved. We couldn't be happier with the experience and hope to return for another visit.
