It's an old building and has had some trouble from Mother nature lately but it has a charm to it. It has some quirky plumbing tricks but once you have the hot water dialed in the shower feels great after several days of desert camping. It's quiet at night and the bed was comfortable. There are no stores, gas stations or restaurants in the immediate area. The hotel is a fascinating location and the story of Marta Becket is inspiring for artists. I have to grade the property on a curve: as an historic property it’s amazing. It is not, however, a modern hotel, so don’t expect much in the way of amenities. The building and the plumbing are over 100 years old, there are no phones or televisions in the rooms, and cell phone reception is nonexistent. The hotel does have WiFi, so you won’t be totally disconnected. I ultimately really enjoyed my stay, but it’s important to know what you’re getting yourself into. The staff lovely. Facilities very poor. Shared microwave and toaster in dirty area. Shared dirty fridge. Big ice machine. No washing up facilities. 15 mins wait for hot water...but is plentiful when it comes. Noisy air con. Bring all your own food and dishes as none available. Bed comfy. No tv in room. Wifi worked but slow at times. To be fair its the cheapest place to stay so on that basis I would return.
