What is the best area to stay in Ngor?

The best area to stay in Ngor is the beachfront strip along Plage de Ngor, offering direct access to the ocean and island connections. This area is the heart of Ngor's visitor experience, stretching along the coastline with hotels, guesthouses, and restaurants facing the Atlantic. It's known for its relaxed pace and provides easy access to the pirogues that shuttle visitors to the Île de Ngor. The main road running parallel to the beach, Boulevard de la Plage, is where you'll find most amenities. Couples looking for a relaxing escape will find this area particularly appealing. You can enjoy strolls along the beach, dine at waterfront restaurants, and easily take a short boat trip to the tranquil Île de Ngor for a day of swimming and sunbathing. The sound of the waves creates a peaceful backdrop for your stay. For travellers interested in a more residential and quiet experience, the areas slightly inland from the immediate beachfront, particularly around the Ngor Almadies district, offer a good alternative.

When is the best time to go to Ngor?

The best time to visit Ngor is during the dry season, which runs from November to May. This period offers pleasant weather with plenty of sunshine and lower humidity, making it ideal for enjoying the beaches and outdoor activities. Daily temperatures typically range from 25°C to 30°C, and there's very little rainfall. For those looking to enjoy the island's many water-based activities, such as surfing or boat trips, the dry season provides calm seas and clear skies. The waters around Île de Ngor are particularly inviting during these months.

"The front desk lady Anissa was absolutely amazing from the moment we walked in!! Unfortunately for room service, they got our orders wrong. And we had to ask twice for bath towels that we only recieved 2days after. Other than that,i stayed in their most dulux room. The television in the living room and bedroom is so small and outdated, I would expext for the price they ask and for how modern the hotel is, they would atleast have decent 75inc smart tv's or something."

"The hotel exterior was old, there were dead bugs all over the.place, the WiFi didn't work everywhere, no hot water in the morning, my bathroom (Rm 652) floods if you turn on the shower for more than 2 minutes, the in-room intercom did not work. Imaging paying $268 for a hotel room for one night, you get asked to pay for breakfast on checknout and the breakfast spread was nothing to be excited about for extra $25 The only upside about the hotel are the staff who seemed friendly and handicapped...

Terrou-Bi Resort

10/10 Excellent

"Excellent location. Great staff. A true embodiment of the spirit of Terranga in Dakar"

Hôtel BOMA

10/10 Excellent

"This hotel is spectacular in every way. It is an oasis in the middle of a busy area. I stayed in Bungalow 20. There ia a beautiful lush path to get to my room. There is a beautiful outdoor reception. Stunning pool, bar area and restaurant and I was told they just opened a new section of guest rooms ( not bungalows). My room is so well thought out. The attention to detail is magical. I only stayed 2 nights and wish I could have stayed longer. I am a business traveller and it feels so lovely to come back to this hotel after a full day of meetings. I had a delightful cocktail last night ( Botaniko) and great breakfast this morning. It is my 4 th trip to Dakar but my first stay at hotel BOMA. I hope to come back. Staff and service are impeccable."
