Amazing experience!! Great , relaxing place! New, modern, rustic interior with everything in it. Extremely friendly host!! Very nice place. I cant believe some ungrateful people left less than excellent reviews. Highly recommend this sweet, cozy cabin. Reasonable price, location and comfort! I couldn't ask for more. Thank you!!
This is a brand new cabin in Custer, very clean, nicely decorated and more amenities than we expected: mini fridge with freezer, glass stove top, kitchen sink, dishes/silverware, coffee, and some more that we were pleased to find. The listing was a little confusing as to the bed set up, so I'll clarify. There is a bunk bed with a twin top and queen bottom, a loft that's a twin, and a futon that's a twin. All bedding is included. The steps to get to the loft are not stairs, but actually shelves that are also steps. If you have balance issues, don't opt for the loft! My kids thought it was a lot of fun, though. It was chilly outside when we visited, but the space heater was great and it was always perfect inside the cabin. It was very easy to get to all the activities in the Black Hills, and the host was easy to communicate with. Great trip!

Too Small
First the good. The location is nice, the cabin is new, dishes/pans adequate, inside not dirty and check in is easy. When the owner went to town he did purchase some coffee and found more bedding/towels when we asked. The bad. The listing photo of cabin is deceiving. You think you are getting a nice size one bedroom cabin but what you it is half (maybe 250 square feet) being a one room space with a bathroom. The deck chairs had bird poop and pine needles and deck also was covered in pine needles. We cleaned it off so we could sit outside. The kitchen is very small with sink and counter burner right next to each other. The counter cook unit is hard to operate and we finally unplugged it.Two of the beds had no bedding. I think the owner assumed we would use only two beds. There were 3 adults. He asked that we not flush toliet paper and use an open waste basket for disposal. The toiiet bowl had severe rust stains.Access to one bed is up a curio cabinet unto the top of the bathroom. Most adults would not be able to get to it easily. There is no inside dining table or chairs. The refrigerator did not work. When I booked the cabin I paid a pet fee but the dog stayed home. The owner did not respond when I asked for a refund. I see he gets upset with bad reviews so I am sure he will with this one also. I live in the area and most cabin rentals are wonderful so do your research when booking.
Great location and ease of check in process. It was a Greta value for Memorial Day weekend and very happy with it. Would recommend if you just need a place to rest your head during your adventures in Custer!

This cabin was perfect for my friends and I. Host was really helpful and responded quickly when we needed something. Thank you again!!
This was my first VRBO booking so I wasn’t sure what to expect. Everything went smoothly from booking to check in. Every time I messaged Archie the host he responded in a timely manner. Very quiet setting and if you’re a golfer like me it’s perfect for golfing the course in Custer as it’s literally a driver away from the cabin. I would definitely stay here again.
This was an amazing place to stay! Nestled directly in the heart of the Black Hills, you are center to all the attractions and peacefulness the Hills have to offer. The host was an amazing host! Very responsive and quick to fulfill all of our needs! If you’re looking to get away… you won’t be disappointed.
WE WERE NOT CONTACTED FOR CHECKIN INFORMATION UNTIL A FEW HOURS PRIOR, AND WHEN WE WERE CONTACTED IT WAS TO INFORM US THAT THE CABIN PIPES WERE FROZEN. THEY WERE TRYING TO GET THEM THAWED BUT COULD NOT GUARANTEE. I ASKED IF WE COULD CANCEL AND WE WERE BASICALLY TOLD NO, THAT WE COULD SLEEP IN A ROOM INSIDE OF THE HOST'S HOUSE WHICH IS LOCATED NEAR THE CABIN. THIS IS WHAT WE ENDED UP DOING. WE APPRECIATED THAT WE STILL HAD A PLACE TO SLEEP, BUT WERE OFFERED NO COMPENSATION AS WE CERTAINLY DID NOT GET THE CABIN IN THE WOODS EXPERIENCE THAT WE EXPECTED. I UNDERSTAND THAT UNEXPECTED THINGS HAPPEN THAT ARE OUT OF THE CONTROL OF THE HOST, BUT AGAIN I FELT THAT WE SHOULD HAVE BEEN GIVEN A SIGNIFICANT REDUCTION OF THE RENTAL PRICE.

Not a good fit for family with children
Considering the surroundings, I wouldn’t suggest this for a family with children. The host was very kind. The area was fairly quiet with the exception of the dog in the cage across the way barking. The host mentioned that the gentleman living there was homeless and he was helping him out, along with the elderly person living in the same cabin but different unit. Very kind of him to help orhered, but we didn’t need to know the details. We slept well, but I wasn’t comfortable, considering the surroundings. The area seemed slightly sketchy. The main road isn’t good for walking as we almost got ran over from someone driving like a maniac. Property is close to amenities but more fitting for a couple, not a family with kids. The deck could have used a good leaf blowing. Overall it wasn’t terrible but we ended up not staying our full stay because it just wasn’t a good fit for us being a family of 4, with two young girls. Perhaps moving forward the host should consider not telling other guests about who is “living” in the surrounding units, it made me feel very uncomfortable. The unit is set up nicely, the bed on the bottom was comfortable, however the top bunk was not. Towels were lacking. If I would give any recommendations, I’d suggest matching sheets and ample supply of towels for guests. New towels, would be nice as the ones supplied seemed very old. The unit was clean, just not a good fit for our family of four.
The cabin was adequate and was what we expected.Close to all attractions without the high cost. Definitely not a 5 star but bed was comfortable and it meet our needs.
