![If you're close to Uvita, check the tide schedule and get down to the beach! Humpback whales raise their young in Marino Bellena as the waters are shallow and warm and they feel safe. Coincidentally, at low tide, the beach forms a "whale's tail" shape, and it's stunning to see.

"OK hotel near the beach, rooms near the pool are a bit small (bed is almost against the wall on one side and there's no bedside table or lamp on the other side, as there's no space), but overall a good option for staying in Uvita. Breakfast is an extra 5000 colones and has 3 options: granola with yogurt & fruit (they call is muesli but it's granola), Costa Rican (gallo pinto with eggs), and American style (eggs, bacon & toast)"

"Beautifully renovated property (it reopened in January after extensive property upgrades). The villas were beautifully designed. The views are stunning. The pool area was lovely. The restaurant is excellent, and the staff was very friendly. No major complaints whatsoever. A few minor things to improve, but not enough to give less stars (and the staff mentioned that they were still finalizing some things due to furniture shipments delayed, etc). The pool area could use a few more lounge chairs; the main lobby area could use a bit more decor (plants, more tables, pillows, etc) to fill out the space and create a more intimate feeling. "

"An outstanding property; one of the best I have ever stayed at. The views are incredible, rooms are well kept and bar and restaurant are open 6a-10p. But you do need 4wd to get up the mountain on a rough road to it (faster is better) and the food is very healthy and may not be enough for everyone, but is delicious. Staff become family quickly. "Luxury in the heart of nature. Botanika is a beautiful Hilton Curio property located opposite the airport (not a problem) on the edge of a lovely piece of jungle property on the edge of the bay. To be clear the bay is a bit of a walk from the property but there are nature walking trails. Pros: Modern, clean rooms; thoughtful staff & housekeeping); excellent restaurant and bar at pool; and a fantastic pool/Jacuzzi they have bulk sunscreen (great idea). The beach shuttle (4x4 Land Cruiser) takes you to a private, quiet paradise with full beach bar & menu. We literally were the only ones on the beach for a 1/2 mile each way. We had a wonderful lunch after a few restful hours walking, swimming and lounging They provided beach towels.
