It was also great that they had kayaks, paddle boards and snorkelling gear available to use with out additional costs. Lastly the sunset at Discovery Coron was unreal especially when the fruit bats started to migrate to other islands during sunset! Very friendly and kind staff, everyone was eager to please I must say. But for American standards, it’s exhausting to get to as the property is located in an island outside of the main island of Coron where the airport is. Its about 20 minute car ride from airport to dock where the boat waits for you, and another 30 minutes to the property by boat. The car ride to the dock is a bit depressing going through very impoverished neighborhoods and dirt roads(I got motion sick from the car ride very bumpy roads). The food all over the philippines has been disappointing to American standards. I ate eggs and fruit for breakfast, and chicken caesar salad for lunch and dinner with fruit smoothies everywhere I went in the country. The excursions through nearby islands were great as the natural beauty of the philippines is unmatched( I have been to 40 countries) never seen anything as beautiful as what I saw. My advice is don’t have high expectations for food or service, focus on the natural beauty of the landscape and your beautiful vacation photos and you’ll be fine. Looking to the bright side eating the way I did forced me to be healthy and I lost body fat in the Philippines… when life feeds you lemons make lemonade ! Ha! Talk about stellar customer service, we felt our stay was personalized while there. Upon our first meal, we requested for extra water at the restaurant. Since then, our room had extra bottles and each meal was served to ensure we had more than enough to hydrate, not having to make another request for the rest of our four-day stay. My wife and I made sure to leave 10/10 verbal feedback to the resort manager before we left. The manager said that we were treated like family because the staff miss their own families while being away and having to work in the small island. To me, it is the hospitality and respect of the culture. This is actually our 2nd time in this island resort. The services were great. All the staff were courteous. Special mention to Theresa who always writes special messages to us when she comes to our villa for the turn down service. Special mention to Ian, who always greet us with a beautiful smile. He always takes a step ahead to make us feel special. My partner, Larry enjoyed having a conversation with him and we noticed that he does this to every guests. He is very engaging. We will definitely comeback to this beautiful island. I wish they can renovate all the sunset villas. We explored the island and we saw a lot of constructions going on. The garden/nature villas look beautiful and spacious from the outside. I wish that when we come back for the 3rd time, there will be improvements done on all the sunset villa.
