Great breakfast too. Loved the variety and choice. The Sri Lankan selection was great. Staff are very friendly and courteous. But the front desk employees seem not empowered at all. Had to check every minor thing, including the Expedia voucher with back office. The electronic key card had to be changed 3 times and it still failed to work regularly. Room cleaning staff always forgot to leave something including water. But they fix all the mistakes very promptly and my experience was positive. Really clean, modern, and everything you would expect from a hotel of this quality. It's also very close to Colombo Fort station which is useful if you are going to continue the trip by train! I didn't use the pool but had a drink there and it looks great - one note was that the service was quite slow! Breakfast options were vast. There was even live music! The swimming pool is large and pristine, and you can watch a variety of birds in the river while you soak in the pool. It felt like a Vegas property, absent the casinos. My room was okay -- reasonably comfortable and business like. The big attraction are the numerous restaurants, shops and entertainment options. Plus, a pool that is open to 9 p.m. My favorite thing was swimming in the huge, almost entirely empty pool, under the night sky, with the giant Lotus Flower Tower all lit up overhead. I also had a great dinner at the buffet restaurant. I only stayed a night between arrival from a train in the late afternoon until an early morning flight the next day. It seemed that there was constantly some sort of private party in the pool area with incredibly loud music which could be heard throughout the hotel even into the early hours of the morning.
