If staying in the old town, this hotel couldn't be more central for beach, restaurants, cafes all on the doorstep.Georgios the proprietor was very helpful in recommending the best places to go and also organising airport collection. The actual hotel was very historical, but with all mod cons in the room.On the whole a fantastic stay
The hotel is perfectly placed for seeing all of the old port and we had a room that looked onto the port itself. No review, however, can fail to mention the now-legendary George, whose family has owned this place for decades and who offers wonderful recommendations for restaurants and beaches and other not-to-be-missed sites. Actually it was a young woman at the desk (whose name I sadly didn’t catch) who recommended we switch our planned visit to Elifonissi beach to Falasarna. Brilliant! Turns out the latter is the secret favorite of the locals—and, man, was it great. All in all a top notch experience and to no small degree because of this homey, attractive and unpretentious hotel and its staff.

The good: amazing views and absolutely gorgeous hotel. Extremely friendly and helpful staff, comfortable beds and water pressure and temperature in the shower were excellent.
The ok: when staying on the top floor the stairs are rough after a long day of walking. There’s no elevator but that’s the trade off for an old and historical building. The air conditioner is fantastic but does turn off half way through the night.
The not so good: due to the location it is extremely noisy which can be rough for a light sleeper. This is a trade off for a harbour view though. For me personally, there was something in the room that I was extremely allergic to. I’m not sure if it was mold, dust mites, feather bedding or the a/c filters, but my allergies went nuts every night, to the point that I ended up with inflamed sinuses. Now this is 100% individual specific but for others that suffer as I do this may be a rough stay.
Overall we really enjoyed our stay and the hotel and staff are absolutely lovely. My allergies are more of a personal problem.
This hotel was absolutely amazing! George gave us great recommendations and was always ready to help us out. The hotel location is perfect, situated in Old Town Chania, walkable at night, clean room, and very safe. Thank you so much George we will definitely be back

Hotel is excellently located in old town The room on top floor had two windows with excellent views over the harbour
Staff were very friendly and helpful
Cosy and friendly hotel right in the heart of old port Chania. Staff Georgios was very polite and helpful. When we arrived at the hotel he had prepared a map for us with personal recommendations of locations for dinner, drinks, breakfast and other activities such as the nearby beach. If we had any questions regarding places to go, words in Greek or anything else, he was always happy to help. The room service was also great, well cleaned with each day new towels, coffee or tea, water bottles and soap/ schampoo. Unfortunately we chose a room on the floor without the ocean view. Still next time we will choose one with a view for that extra feeling. Still, the ocean is literally a 1 minute walk away.
My husband and I stayed in this hotel for 3 nights and we had a great experience. The staff was friendly, helpful and open to answer any questions about the places around the area. The bed was comfortable, the room was very clean and the location was great to walk around the old town of Chania. I really recommend it.
The location is great, though it can be a little difficult to find on first arrival. The staff is very, very helpful. The free parking is on the street or in public lots nearby.

Lovely staff and cute little hotel right in the middle of the old town. In a very picturesque walk way.
It’s a little dated and has very tiny rooms with even tinier bathrooms with a little personal shower. Not ideal for two. If you have a large suitcase good luck finding space for it

George was super helpful and made sure we had everything we needed. He provided many recommendations for breakfast and dinner. He also arranged our taxi to airport.
He made the time in Chania very enjoyable
We had a wonderful 5 night stay here. The hotel is well situated and we had a lovely view of the harbor. Room was spotlessly clean with thoughtful amenities including coffee, comfortable bed, fridge, safe etc. George was so helpful and gave us some great suggestions as well as answering my curious questions about life on Crete. We felt safe and comfortable here and would highly recommend for a stay in Chania.
The view from our windows over the curving harbour of Chania was outstanding! Many photos were taken of the water and shore sites and activities of this beautiful scene!
Georgio and Teresa were wonderful hosts. Georgio helped us up to the top floor with our heavy luggage and then spent quite a bit of time describing best restaurants for various meals and times day. He is quite proud of Chania and Helena Hotel. We had a wonderful time and look forward to staying at the Helena Hotel next time we’re in Chania! *****
My room has a very good view of the Venetian habour. George and Ilissa are extremely helpful and friendly helping me to know the nearby area, restaurants and attractions. The location of the hotel is perfect for fist timer. It is mid point between the Venetian port and Nea Chora Beach. 10 – 15 minutes walk to other major attractions and the Central bus station.
The view of the sea and the Venetian Port from my room was excellent. The location in the old town is convenient and charming, as is the hotel itself. My only caveat about the Helena is its lack of an elevator - it's a rare hotel in the old town that has one. The same is true in the old towns in other Cretan cities. If mobility is an issue request a room on a lower floor. If you have a car parking is a beast, but that's true of everywhere in Chania, especially the old town. That's just one of the very few downsides to Chania and it's a small price to pay for what one gets in return for the charm of the place and this hotel.
Giorgios was amazing, he went above and beyond to ensure my stay and experience in Chania was full of Cretan hospitality. He was a prompt and excellent communicator. A lovely young man😊🇬🇷
This is the 2nd time in four years that I have stayed here. Both times were excellent experiences. Owners and staff have been extremely helpful in all questions and concerns. Views from room windows can be spectacular.
Excellent 2 night stay at this property. George went the extra mile to be of assistance. If I ever come back to Chania, this is where I'll stay.
Much appreciated, and many thanks.
Die Lage und der Blick auf den venezianischen Hafen ist grandios.
