First thing when we walked in, there was a dead cockroach in the living room. Upon going to the back patio, we noticed that chairs were over turned and things seemed ran down and poorly taken care of. There was a large black widow spider living between the back of the chair and the pillar. We encountered multiple cockroaches running around the back and front areas of the yard. Luckily we did not encounter anymore inside the house. The outside trash can was so full upon our arrival that our trash had to be stacked and shoved in the best we could to get it to sit on top. The inside of the home was dirty. You could tell that things were cleaned quickly and the house has been neglected of a deep clean, which it needs badly. I felt uncomfortable upon arriving and walking through the home and reached out to the host regarding my initial concerns, to which he was initially responsive. I asked if there was an opportunity for us to stay that first night then cancel the rest for a refund. At that point, the host never responded and we never heard from him the rest of our trip. We typically travel to the area every three months and wanted to stay somewhere closer to our family but will never choose this location again. We are understanding of the fact that a refund may not have been possible but we served a response. The host going silent and failing to respond, paired with the cleanliness and condition of the property, told us everything we needed to know.
