Before check in the hotel reached out and said expedia made a pricing mistake and we should pay more in cash at the hotel. Our reservation has been paid for months. Also I haven't been in contact with them. Several times about airport pickup. There was no issue with pricing at those times. Then, they said, we have different rooms than the rooms that you booked. You can stay there for the agreed price. Then, the hotel asks that we cancel our reservation and pay the whole price in cash to them. It was at that time, we booked another hotel. In reading some of the comments about this hotel, it seems like it's a common scam.

We feel disappointed, misled & cheated by this experience. We booked Elite Pyramids View Inn in Giza through Expedia, trusting the listing & phot. On arrival, we were placed in Regency Pyramids Hotel and told that Elite was fully booked & that we were lucky to receive a more expensive hotel. However, the photographs advertised for Elite appear to be those of Regency & we could not find the name Elite Pyramids View Inn displayed anywhere at the property. We were later told we would be moved elsewhere unless we paid extra to remain at Regency. After questioning this, several people tried to persuade us to accept alternative accommodation. We were eventually moved to Aziz Pyramids View, a very basic and poorly maintained hotel. The room was extremely dirty, and we had to change rooms because the toilet did not work. The replacement room was also filthy, and we had to ask the staff to clean it. The doors do not lock properly, and the toilets & washbasins do not drain properly. We have repeatedly had to report these issues & wait for repairs. This is completely unacceptable. We booked & paid for accommodation based on Expedia's listing, yet received something far below reasonable standards. Instead of enjoying our trip, we have experienced stress, frustration, & sadness. We feel seriously misled and let down by both the hotel arrangements and this experience. We request a proper investigation, a clear explanation.
