"This place is immaculate. The host is genuine and so kind. Very peaceful and calm during the night. And free to enter and exit as you please. The living room and kitchen are super welcoming and spacious for everyone—you're free to use the kitchen like it's your own, and there's plenty of room to hang out. It's a 30minute walk to Cascais which is an enjoyable one. Or quick 5 minute drive. I love this place. And will be staying here in the future. Obrigado Senhora Maria"

"Super cool location - that’s what you would go here for right now. As reviews say, it’s a hotel that looks like its glory days were in the past and it’s waiting for some love. The staff (restaurant and front desk) weren’t super helpful, not sure what that was about. Not horrible, but I booked through Expedia a Fortress room, and the girl at the front desk moved me to the Guicho side (room 59). The room with the cracked window another reviewer mentioned. Not sure why she did this, but when I went back and asked nicely about it she moved me back to the Fortress side (room 25). These numbers were actually on my room card, scratched out, then scratched out again when I asked to be moved back. Saw both rooms and the Fortress room bathroom was definitely older but decently clean. A little bit of smell at times….maybe something from older pipes…..but not horrible if you aren’t too fussy and I felt the HUGE room and entryway and king bed and balcony and windows overlooking the pool and fortress walls and crashing waves more than made up for any wear and tear. I stayed two nights with a car (parking was fine but I came in later both nights and had no problem finding a spot) at the end of my trip around Portugal and it was exactly what I wanted. Beautiful views, amazing sounds from the ocean. Totally relaxing. Had dinner at the restaurant one night and it was average. Service very slow but only one staff so I get it. "The villa is situated on an A location, in a quiet and private area and the view is impressive. The garden, tenniscourt and pool aera are also beautifully done and wel maintained, the pool needs some little resaurations but this didnt bother the fun and quality of our stay, the wassingmachine worked but is rusted. The terrace is ok, not high quality material but the furniture and BBQ where all there, it is mostly the view and sitting out there which is perfect. The house itself has all the accomodation we needed, and the living areas are mostly appreciated, large, nicely furnitured and with amazing views. The kitchen had more than enough equipment, but was rather small and a little worn out. The rooms are not big so where the beds, there is no airco but the fan helped during warm nights, but it can get warm. One bathroom we also outdated, for the price we payed, you can expect a little higher quality. But we loved our stay and the place. Which was also very good was the contact and communication with the host. Very weekje friendly and stuiterende if something was needed."

"We had a lovely stay at Barca Charm House! Sandra was in touch before we arrived, and was there with a very warm welcome at check in. She was very communicative and made sure we had a lovely stay. The location is ideal - easy access to the coast, Sintra, Cascais and easy to get into Lisbon. The house was able to easily accommodate 6 adults and 2 kids. Having the outdoor seating area was lovely - especially for morning breakfast. Would happily stay again!"

"We had an excellent stay! Our group consisted of 9 adults plus a small child and the accommodations worked perfectly for us. House was very clean with enough bedrooms and bathrooms to make everyone comfortable. Host's nephew lives nearby and was very helpful with checking in/out and handling any last minute questions. Great communication from the host as well. Beach and restaurants were a 5-10 minute walk away - lovely and convenient to be able to walk to lunch or dinner. Several of our group enjoyed morning runs on the beach and there is a beautiful 100m pool within walking distance where morning lap swim (for a small fee) was also available. House amenities exactly as described in the listing. We particularly enjoyed the beautiful view of the ocean from the main living/eating area. Would stay here again and highly recommend!"

"Beautiful home! It’s a great space, easy to check in, and was very enjoyable. Unfortunately the pool is not heated which was disappointing, we stayed in May and the pool was freezing. The house is located 10-15 min of a walk to the beach. It is along a dirt hilly road. The beach is amazing, and has access to 5 restaurants and a cafe. Unfortunately at the end of our stay we were instructed to remove all garbage and walk 10 minutes down the road to dispose of it. For the cost of the rental, we had hoped that would be included. It’s a beautiful area and home, however would be helpful to have known about the cold pool and hilly walk to the beach in advance. "
