Peaceful retreat in the countryside
This is a very unique, historic property in the quiet country atmosphere of Buckingham County - but also close to some historic sites and beautiful natural areas. The host, Nancy, is very friendly and welcoming. When we found we were short a few kitchen items, she very promptly made them available. The VRBO cottage, attached to the larger historic bed and breakfast, affords its own special privacy and atmosphere. The grounds, with tables for eating outside, slope down to an inviting gazebo. We really enjoyed our stay.

We'll be back!
We just needed a place to sleep while visiting family. This place gave us that and more! This VRBO was cozy, delightful, and accommodating. Nancy was great with communication. All around a fantastic experience.

wonderful old buildiing. lacking many amenities that would be nice.
This is the 'cottage' attached to an older elegant house. The main house is lovely - very much the oldest, nicest house in town. The cottage is a remnant from another time - big beams in the ceiling, wide boards on the floor.. I have minor complaints - mostly the owner cannot solve. First it was very dark and the lamps were very dim. While it gave the place a warmth, I wished for more light during the day and night- the windows were small - from another era. Here are the things the owner could solve. The wifi didn't work in the cottage, and other renters. staying in the main house, had to sit in the kitchen to log onto the wifi. Second, there was a strong potpourri smell that caused a strong allertgic reaction in my partner. Third, wihile the rooms were It was mostly very clean, there were hairs left in the shower from the prior renter, Finally, the window air conditioners were loud.

Cozy cottage and thoughtful host
The host was very kind and thoughtful. Though I had trouble cooking in the cottage oven, she offered to let me use the main house kitchen which worked out great! The cottage is very cozy, and the surrounding grounds are lovely.

very nice place; would definitely come back
We had a really nice time and enjoyed the cottage very much; it was just the right size for the two of us. In pretty good condition for an 1815 building, although beetles get in the door easily so wear socks. Nancy was lovely and helpful and we definitely plan on returning. Loved the historic setting. Only other notes: 1. The oven runs REALLY hot. Our frozen pizza became a charcoal disk when cooked at the prescribed temp; we had to cook everything else on the "warm" setting because it seems to run about 200 degrees hotter than it should 2. Based on the photos, the property looks like it's in a secluded rural area. It's actually on a main road and RIGHT next to the courthouse, so a lot less privacy than expected. But the road is quiet and there is a little area to walk/sit at tables behind the house. 3. Poor wifi/cell service in the smaller cottage (main house fine). Not necessarily a bad thing, just be aware in case you were expecting to get work done.

Perfect quiet retreat
The cottage and grounds are cozy and picturesque. The bed is crisp & very comfortable with wonderful light during the day. Nancy was a wonderful host: quick & clear communication, completely contact free during this strange time, but attentive to making sure I had everything I needed. The internet & phone connections are very inconsistent, but she was up front about that, and it worked just fine for the solitude I was looking for, just something to be aware of. Kitchen has the basics for what I needed, but would be a bit challenging if you plan to do a lot of cooking. Overall highly recommend & looking forward to my next stay!
