Winter brings the majestic Humpback Whales on their annual migration to Hervey Bay. A short drive to lookouts and from May to August, you will see them heading north. From August to November they return to their summer home in the Antarctic waters. Other whales can also frequent the crystal clear waters off North Stradbroke Island. Cottage features Quiet, peaceful location Close to natural bush land Low level, meaning easy luggage loading Full kitchen facilities including: refrigerator/freezer, microwave, dishwasher, electric frying pan, utensils, crockery 1 Queen size bed in bedroom Single bunk beds in bunk room (small sized room) Air Conditioning Cosy BBQ area Native birds in area Wildlife in close proximity regularly Gated enclosure for a pet. (Strictly only 1 dog permitted) Island features Pristine beaches Beautiful headland gorge walk, including sightseeing Picture yourself barefoot on a pristine beach, not a care in the world. Sun glistening through crystal clear blue water, dolphins surfing the waves. Seagulls, terns and oyster catches go about their day on the beach too. You may spot a kite or eagle gliding above the dunes. This is a small taste of what is awaiting you. To experience all North Stradbroke Island has to offer, a pleasant trip across Moreton Bay is necessary. Regular vehicular ferries and passenger boats depart from Cleveland, a bay side area, south east of Brisbane. Ferry and passenger boat trips depart daily from 5am, until late, depending on day of week. More about that later, but it must be said that this relaxing trip will de-stress and unwind you in preparation for your stay in paradise. The kids loved all the board games and DVD's. Carolyn and Mal are wonderful hosts and they are great with communication. We love that the property is pet-friendly and it is perfect for small dogs. The only recommendation we can give is that the fence at the back be extended above the rock wall so that medium dogs such as our 15kg boy won't be able to jump up and escape. We keep coming back because of the excellent location, the clean, comfortable and cosy little house with lots of board games and DVDs for the kids, and the hospitality from Carolyn and Mal.
