We’ve just finished a 3-night stay at the Henson Hotel and had the best time making memories. As a mum with two kids (8 and 13), I found it the ideal 'base camp'. Location-wise, it’s unbeatable—5 minutes from the station and trams, with a £10 family ticket getting us to the Tower and Piers in under 10 minutes. The hotel itself is great value. Rooms are basic but functional, and the bar is excellently priced for both soft and alcoholic drinks. We were pleasantly surprised by the space and entertainment like the pool table and board games. However, the highlight was the staff. They are incredibly helpful and funny; they created such a warm atmosphere that all the guests were laughing together at breakfast. My kids noted that you’d never get this level of personal service at a big chain. Check-in was very smoothly and free Parking, which is a massive bonus. Breakfast unfortunately is Continental and is a charge of £7.50 so we didn’t go down that road however the room was lovely and clean. Hotel looks a little bit dated could do with some new carpets and bits and bobs but would recommend I would definitely stay again. The staff are really friendly and very outgoing. This place should not be open. We arrived at the property to see a packed of cigarette on the reception desk and the horrendous smell of cigarettes, that belonged to the lady behind reception. We were given our key, the place stunk of Marijuana! Our room was VILE there was blood on the walls that hadn’t been wiped off. The carpet was coming up, the place was smelly and dirty. Avoid this place at all costs. We stayed here for the weekend for my brothers 60th birthday and set up a surprise and Leah the manager was so helpful and helped us to make it possible. The rooms were exactly what we needed somewhere to clean up have a cup of tea and have a good nights sleep and the bed was very comfy. Room was spacious and bed was comfy. However, remote didn’t work with either tv and stuck on one channel. Hot water took ages and was a trickle. Shower was fine though. Mini-fridge went off every 20 mins and I ended up turning it off. The curtains didn’t close properly and did not provide full privacy. Staff were friendly.
