I'll start with the positives:
- The temperature and shower pressure in the bathroom were amazing!
- The views from our room on the 15th floor were stunning. We had a 270degree view of the mountains, plus a balcony. The downside about the balcony was that the hotel would not provide patio furniture, and staff suggested that we move the side chairs from the living room in and out of the room to use on the balcony...
- Most of the staff were incredibly friendly! Sandy in housekeeping, Gerald at the concierge desk, and Z in the Copa restaurant stand out!
- The location on Loop streeet, close to Long Street, and a couple of blocks from Bo Kaap was awesome. Everything else was a quick/affordable Uber ride away.
Cons:
- The layout of the one-bedroom suites was a bit awkward. The bedroom was small with minimal walking space on either side of the bed. The closet was also small and awkwardly placed. There was no dining furniture, though there was space for it and the pictures of the room showed a dining table in the suite. The bathroom vanity lacked functional counter space. I really wanted to use the club, but it didn't seem super clean.
- Breakfast was very monotonous (same thing every day), and there were not a lot of options other than fruit if you don't eat meat/pork/dairy/eggs. We spent a week and got bored with the food options quickly. There were certain dishes that were quite good and served as consistent fallbacks (smoothies, pancakes, cheese boards).

"What a wonderful place, probably our fifth or sixth visit over there the last 20 years. Safe, peaceful and in fact Belvedere is unchanging, the whole area highly controlled. It’s Gods window, a place I am so happy and content. A wonderful place to stay."
