Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Batu Karas?
The best areas to stay in Batu Karas are primarily along Jalan Pantai Batu Karas and the area around Legok Pari Beach.

Jalan Pantai Batu Karas is the main road running parallel to the beach and is the central point for most visitors. It's where you'll find a good selection of accommodation, from guesthouses to more established resorts, all within easy reach of the surf breaks. This area is also home to many local eateries and small shops, making it convenient for daily needs. The general layout is linear, following the coastline.

Couples looking for a relaxed beach holiday will find this area particularly appealing. The proximity to the beach means easy access for surfing lessons or simply enjoying the sand and sea. The evenings here are laid-back, superb for enjoying a meal with ocean sounds in the background.

For those prioritising direct beach access and a slightly quieter setting, the area around Legok Pari Beach is an excellent choice. This part of Batu Karas feels a bit more secluded, with accommodation often having direct pathways to the sand. It's still very close to the main surf spots but offers a more tranquil environment away from the main road's gentle buzz.

Surfers, whether experienced or just starting, will appreciate the convenience of staying near Legok Pari Beach.
When is the best time to go to Batu Karas?
The best time to go to Batu Karas is during the dry season, which typically runs from May to October.

During these months, you'll experience consistent sunny weather and calm seas, which are superb for enjoying the beach and water activities. The dry season offers the most reliable conditions for surfing, swimming, and exploring the area without the interruption of heavy rainfall.

For surfers, especially those looking to learn or improve, the dry season provides ideal small to medium waves, particularly at the main point break known as Pantai Batu Karas. The clear skies and gentle breezes make for comfortable days on the water.

Couples looking for a relaxing beach holiday will also find the dry season most suitable.
