#### Marvel at the spectacular bonsai gardens, gaze up at the imposing pagodas and relax in the historic teahouses by the river.

On the southern bend of the Jinjiang River, the vast Baihuatan Park is a diverse and scenic set of paths, gardens and ponds. It is a serene and spacious setting, where locals play traditional games and drink tea in front of majestic pagodas. Get a glimpse into the region’s wonderful scenery and culture with a trip to this park.

Arrive at the site and cross a bridge to reach the stunning waterfall that stands near the entrance. Wander through the small bamboo forest and snap photos of the picturesque orchid garden. Stroll along the riverside path and forget the noise and bustle of city life in these verdant surroundings, which are spread across an area of 21.5 acres (8.7 hectares).

The park usually hosts a range of entertaining activities, from dancing and painting to group singing and physical training. You can even watch calligraphy artists and get tai chi lessons. Relax in the shade of one of the many trees on a hot and sunny afternoon. Purchase stunning watercolor paintings from artists and see the array of bonsai.

Lay down a blanket for a picnic in this pleasant park and watch locals playing mahjong and other games. The park has many tables and benches, where you can enjoy a meal and chat with friends. Relax in one of the intriguing riverside tearooms for hot drinks and snacks. Get balloons for the kids and bring them to the amusement park section.

Note that the park is open year-round from morning until evening and has no entrance fee. Its name means Pond of a Hundred Flowers.

Baihuatan Park is on the southern flank of a bend in the Jinjiang River in the Caotang Residential District in western downtown Chendu. Ride the metro or bus to get to a stop near the park. Visit some of the nearby sights, including the Culture Park and the Chengdu Sichuan Tapestry Woven and Embroidered Museum.

Beautiful Hotel. Love all the curves in the lobby and in the rooms. I had requested an early check-in and this was accommodated. Staff went above and beyond. Even sending someone to my room with ice for a foot injury, and to take a room service order after translating the menu into English for me. Breakfast buffet was excellent. There is no restaurant in the hotel for dinner. But one is immediately adjacent. Room itself was large, dark, and quiet for sleeping. Comfortable bed. The large free standing bathtub was perfect for soaking, great amenities and lots of bottled water available. The hotel offers "Wonderful Rooms" and "Spectacular Rooms". When I asked about the difference, I was told that the spectacular rooms had a better view. Highly recommend.
