![Amarante probably had its origin in the primitive peoples who inhabited the Aboboreira mountain range (inhabited since the Stone Age), although the exact name of its founders is unknown.  However, it only began to gain importance and visibility after the arrival of São Gonçalo (1187-1259), born in Tagilde, Guimarães, who settled here after pilgrimage through Rome and Jerusalem. « Une très bonne surprise. Plus beau que sur les photos. Un super accueil dans une maison haut de gamme, au calme avec une très belle vue. Des attentions au delà de la bouteille d'eau (des gâteaux de type nonette, et une bouteille de vin). La chambre est spacieuse et le lit est confortable. Réfrigérateur, télévision. Petite salle d'eau mais fonctionnelle Petit déjeuner très bon avec des produits maison. Il manque seulement l'orange pressé pour concurrencer les hôtels 5\*. »

« We had a perfect stay at Five Sabrosa Senses. Everything was wonderful: delicious breakfast, incredibly helpful and available staff, and a beautiful house made for pure relaxation. We especially loved enjoying the stunning views during the rainy weather. The sauna was absolutely the highlight! We’ll definitely be back. »

"At check-in was told that the winery was open until 6:30pm; but then they called me at 6pm to tell me they were mistaken and it was closed already. The room required going 4 flights of stairs to access. The room was freezing when we arrived as the heat was completely off even though it was 4 degrees Celsius outside. The restaurant is 500 meters from the room and most guests used the car to go there. There were no premium wines available by the glass even though the hotel is at a winery. I would not recommend this hotel. "
