Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Alcaria?
The best area to stay in Alcaria is within the village centre itself, particularly around the Church of Alcaria.

This central area offers a pleasant, traditional Portuguese village experience. You'll find yourself surrounded by charming, narrow streets and local houses, with the church acting as a clear landmark. It's a compact area, making it easy to walk around and discover local spots.

For couples looking for a relaxing and authentic getaway, staying in the village centre provides a lovely base. You can enjoy the peace of the village, stroll to local cafes, and experience the local way of life. It's also well-positioned for exploring the natural beauty of the surrounding Castelo Branco District.

Families will also appreciate the village centre's calm environment. With less traffic, children can enjoy the open spaces more freely, and there are often small local playgrounds or parks nearby.
When is the best time to go to Alcaria?
The best time to visit Alcaria is during the spring (April to June) and autumn (September to October) months. These periods offer pleasant weather, ideal for exploring the region's natural beauty and historic sites.

Spring in Alcaria brings mild temperatures and the countryside bursts into bloom, making it great for outdoor activities like hiking and cycling. The days are generally sunny without being too hot, making strolls through the village and surrounding areas very enjoyable.

Autumn also provides comfortable temperatures and a beautiful display of changing colours in the landscape. This season is particularly good for those who enjoy a quieter experience, as the peak summer crowds have dispersed.
