![One of a few places you can see nesting and hatching turtles in this area.  The area is protected and you can only go there with local guides from the research centre on-site, in organised groups.  There are rules, which are explained in English and Arabic and the Omani guides take them very seriously - which is refreshing.  This is one of the few beaches where you will see pretty much no rubbish, so the reserve part is actually working.  The pre-dawn trip is just magic and well worth the excruciatingly early rise time!  Since i was last there in 2011, I believe there are more accommodation options available.  The rooms in the centre itself were clean and minimal, but had everything you needed.  Being mostly tiled, it was very noisy if people were being noisy in the common areas outside the rooms.  Breakfast was basic, but it was included and sufficient. "We stayed here because everywhere else was booked out. It is value for money, and only a place you stay to sleep. It’s not comfortable to relax or spend time at this hotel. "Went there in December, which should beach prime time for Oman, but had bad luck with sudden sandstorm and cold weather. Of course, cannot blame resort for this, but when you are at beach resort and without beach, confined to your room and restaurant for three days, some things are getting more visible then if you are swimming in the ocean and reading book at the beach. Sea view rooms are worth it. You go to sleep with sound of the waves. Nice terrace and design of the rooms. Breakfast and dinner buffet were good - nothing spectacular, but nice food (though a bit of more variety, especially for breakfast would be nice). Hotel grounds are well kept, pool and beach looks nice, but could not saw them as they look in right circumstances (nice weather, sun, calm and blue sea). Staff are great, so kind and helpful. Myriam especially helped me so much with tranlations to and from Arabic. Taxi from Sur 10 OMR (use OTaxi app) from resort you must arrange before in Sur (12 OMR). When weather is right, I think price for this resort can be OK, though still a bit high. But even with postcard weather, management and owners should absolutely do something about this things: - Unbelievable that except CNN there is not one TV ch. Also TV's and remote could be better, not so cheap. - Soundproofing is terrible. You can only hope to be lucky (like I was) with neighbours. - Mosquito nets are damaged and they are getting inside which I don't want to anyone "

"The main attraction is of course the turtle viewing tours. Despite some reviews indicating these were insensitive, poorly run etc, our experience of these was very good. The evening tour was a group of 20, but we felt the guide managed it very well, taking care to interfere as little as possible in the amazing spectacle, often using sub-groups etc. The morning tour was quieter but definitely do both. Hotel itself is fine - nothing special, but does the job well enough. It looks somewhat dated to be honest, but the rooms were clean and bed comfy, which is all you need here really. We found the evening food to be decent and very good value. Breakfast was not so great. We visited in September on a weekday - so I can't speak for what it is like in other times / on weekends when it may be busier. "
