Lixouri

"The apartment is in a very central position in Lixouri. Ideal for the square, the ferry and all that Lixouri has to offer. The apartment was clean when we arrived, was cleaned once during our stay - perfect for us. It is well refurbished and had all the amenities we needed and as described. We had good sleeps (apart from the church bells on Sunday morning but this is to be expected in any Greek town). Good bed and pillows. Excellent blinds to keep it dark. Very nice balcony for two people...

Top Agios Dimitrios Hotel Reviews

Emelisse Nature Resort

8/10 Good

"The pool rooms where you share a room are a little dated. Great pool and great location for jumping in the ocean off rocks at the hotel and also a short walk into town (but they also have a shuttle). Breakfast was pretty good, the home made items particularly. We did stay one night in one of the new villas and I will say these were absolute next level quality, luxury and class, you get what you pay for."

Aenos Hotel

10/10 Excellent

"A wonderful stay at Aenos hotel. The bed was super comfortable with nice linens. The staff was exceptional - so helpful and friendly. From the front desk staff, to the breakfast staff and the cleaning crew...all of them amazing. Great location as it is in the center of the action (something to be aware of as sometimes there is music and noise at night). The breakfast buffet was superb! Great selection from yogurt, nuts, cereal, eggs and breakfast meats and some homemade sweets that were yummy. Overall it was a fantastic home-away-from-home stay!"

F ZEEN KEFALONIA - Adults Only

10/10 Excellent

"Staff were super friendly. Hotel felt spacious, lots of sun loungers to choose from on the beach. Easy walk to tavernas and bars, as well as a mini market, both beach side and up in the village. The yoga classes were great-not all for yoga bunnies which was a relief!! The gym facilities super. Amazing sunsets every night. Concierge helped us with taxis, hire cars and gave a great outside recommendation for our anniversary dinner one night. Loved it"

Electra Kefalonia Hotel & Spa

10/10 Excellent

"Situated near the airport, the hotel/resort is easy to get to. The hotel will arrange airport transport for a small fee. It is well staffed and exceptionally clean. The hotel staff is very friendly and helpful. The location is on the ocean with access to a nice nearby beach. Several economical restaurants are within 2-3 minutes walk. Rental cars are available at the property (requiring international driving license) and are a must for seeing the area and the island. There are no shuttles to nearby towns or other parts of the island, so the rental car is the way to go. The restaurant food is very good, as is the free breakfast. The only "down side" would be the for the breakfast buffet where food was not replaced for long periods, example fried eggs and other items went empty for a while before they were refreshed. Other than that the place is really nice."

Tetra Retreat

10/10 Excellent

"My gf and I went and it was great, the main pool was practically free most of the time due to the personal pools most rooms had. The room pool it’s self was lovely and a nice size, although if you get too close to the edge you can see/are visible to other rooms as the walls either side ends. Each morning you get a lovely breakfast basket of bread/pastries and then select your main dish from the menu. Really enjoyed!"

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Agios Dimitrios?

The best area to stay in Agios Dimitrios is along the main coastal road that runs through the village, particularly around the central beach area.

This area is the heart of Agios Dimitrios, offering direct access to the clear waters of the Ionian Sea and the village's primary amenities. The main road is lined with a selection of tavernas, cafes, and a few local shops, creating a convenient and pleasant environment for visitors. You'll find most of the accommodation options here, often with sea views or just a short stroll to the beach.

Couples often find this area ideal for a relaxing getaway. The convenience of having dining options and the beach within easy reach means less time travelling and more time enjoying the picturesque surroundings. The evenings are generally quiet, great for a leisurely dinner by the sea.

For families, staying near the central beach is also highly recommended. The beach itself is generally calm and suitable for children, and the proximity to your accommodation means easy access for naps or quick returns for forgotten items.

When is the best time to go to Agios Dimitrios?

The best time to go to Agios Dimitrios is during the shoulder seasons of May, early June, September, and early October.

During these months, the weather is pleasantly warm, ideal for enjoying the beaches and outdoor activities without the intense heat or larger crowds of the peak summer months. You'll find the sea is warm enough for swimming, and the natural beauty of the Ionian Islands is at its most appealing.

For couples looking for a romantic getaway, these periods offer a more tranquil experience. You can enjoy quiet evenings by the sea, leisurely meals at local tavernas, and explore the charming villages at your own pace. The opportunities for boat trips to secluded coves are also plentiful, giving you a chance to discover hidden gems.

Families travelling with younger children will also appreciate the shoulder seasons. The milder temperatures are more comfortable for little ones, and the beaches are less crowded, making it easier to relax and play.
