"Me and my elderly dad had a great week here. Perfect location on the beach with a great pool. All kept very clean. The spa was great too. The staff were wonderful and accommodating and the rooms had great balconies to sit and read. The only thing which could be improved was the food offered - just not as nice as other places and the shower in the bathroom was a bit of a pain - try to shower without turning your bathroom into a swimming pool! We would definitely return and would recommend this...

"It's worth staying here just for the view. Happily there's more reasons than that though. We spent 3 nights at Lagou Raxi and we all loved it, including my teens. The views from the hotel are spectacular whether you are on your room balcony, eating a meal on the porch or relaxing at the pool. The hotel is like a little oasis. It's 15 minutes from the beach and 5 minutes walk to a great little town square with a several taverna's. But, perched up on the hill it's so much quieter, calmer and...

"Had a great time at Afissos Blu Hotel. The location is perfect, right by the sea. Just down the street are a number of tavernas and shops. The little village is quiet and picturesque, ideal for a relaxing vacation. The highlight of our stay was our host. She was extremely helpful and accommodating! We were gifted a jar of homemade honey before we left and felt right at home during our stay. Highly recommended! 5 stars!"

Azur Hotel Volos by GHH

10/10 Excellent

"The best hotel in Volos. Friendly staff helpful. The hotel is well maintained modern easily accessible. The room was big modern and clean. Plenty of amenities. This will always be the hotel we stay at in Volos. Would recommend to anyone. It’s a great location right on the boardwalk and walking distance to all the shops."

Nimfi Hotel

10/10 Excellent

"Very pleasant stay especially down to the friendly/helpful staff. Excellent value for money. The only real negatives (a) on the beach directly in front of the hotel there's a sort of sink hole/collapsed bit that really needs clearing up and filling in, makes such a bad impression if you're arriving at the hotel on foot via the beach (b) very limited menu at the hotel restaurant (we got given a discount coupon but it just didn't seem worth using.) Beyond this it's a fantastic hotel at this price point."

Skiathos Holiday Resort

10/10 Excellent

"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The staff was amazing. They were all so friendly. The room was very clean and we had a beautiful balcony. The pool was very relaxing. It was truly an oasis. The breakfast each morning was a wonderful treat. Also, the location is perfect. We walked everywhere. It was a great location, as it was so close to Bus Stop 1. If we come back, we'll definitely stay here again."

"L’endroit était bien situé, j’aurais bien aimé avoir du sel du poivre un peu d’huile . comme je viens du canada cela aurait été apprécié. Je voyage en autobus je ne peux pas en trimbaler tous. Un petit chiffon pour nettoyer.. J’ai bien aimé l’endroit le calme. Merci à vous tous."

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Afissos?

The best area to stay in Afissos is along the beachfront, particularly near the main square and the central stretch of the village.

This area is the heart of Afissos, offering immediate access to the village's main beach, known for its clear waters and pebble shore. The promenade runs along the waterfront, lined with a selection of tavernas and cafes where you can enjoy meals with sea views. The main square, just a short walk back from the beach, is where you'll find local shops and the bus stop. It's a compact and easily walkable area.

Couples often find this central beachfront area ideal for a relaxing holiday. You'll be within steps of the sea, great for morning swims or evening strolls, and have a good choice of places for dinner or a drink without needing to go far. The convenience of having everything on your doorstep makes for a stress-free escape.

For families, staying near the main beach is also highly recommended. The shallow waters are suitable for children, and having amenities like restaurants and ice cream shops so close means less hassle when travelling with little ones.

When is the best time to go to Afissos?

The best time to visit Afissos is during late spring (May to early June) or early autumn (September to early October).

These periods offer pleasant weather, with warm but not excessively hot temperatures, making it ideal for exploring the village and its surroundings. You'll find the sea warm enough for swimming, and the natural beauty of the Pelion peninsula is at its peak with lush greenery in spring and a gentle warmth in autumn.

For couples looking for a romantic and relaxed getaway, these shoulder seasons are perfect. The village is less crowded than in peak summer, allowing for a more intimate experience at local tavernas and quiet walks along the beach. You can enjoy strolls through the olive groves or along the waterfront without the bustling crowds.

Families with younger children might also find these times advantageous. The milder temperatures are more comfortable for little ones, and the beaches are less busy, providing a more relaxed environment for splashing in the sea and building sandcastles.
