We liked the property, amenities, and staff. Meaning no disrespect to the staff, there were two things that we disliked. Things that the staff could do little.to nothing about. Shame on me, for i failed to do my homework before booking. First, no AC. Second, location is in middle of red light district. "Adult entertainment" everywhere. Not what I'd wanted for my wife on our late honeymoon.
It was overall a nice stay. About a 15 minute walk from the train station, but worth it to me since the cost was a bit less than other hotels closer. The staff was very friendly and I felt quite safe in the hotel. I did have a minor issue with the bathroom door getting stuck open, but the staff fixed it on request.
The rooms are large which is uncommon in a good way for Europe but it’s next to sleazy bars and weird people loitering at night. I went with my family and there were people yelling and screaming all night. Not that anyone caused any safety issue but just general red light hotel area feeling. Also the AC never cools and it got crazy hot but no one cared to fix it despite mentioning it twice. The the room was big and well maintained so that was a plus. 10mins walk to central Zurich station to convenience was good.
Confusing regarding the location and the reception. Two different buildings. Not clear when the booking is made. Very clean room. Friendly staff. Safe neighbourhood.
If you are traveling with children, I would skip this hotel and any other hotel in a 3 block radius. The reason being that this hotel is in the heart of the red-light district in Zurich. I didn't know that prostitution was legal here ( not that it mattered to me and my boyfriend) until we arrived and started noticing that all the bars in this circle had women by themselves at tables smoking. Thats when we put two and two together and looked it up online.
That being said, the hotel itself was clean and nice. We had a really nice balcony with a table and chair to sit at in the morning with our coffee. The windows were thick and no outside noise came in once they were closed. There was no AC so prepare for that. Luckily it was decently cold at night and the hotel provided a fan. However we would not have survived on the fan had it been summertime. As a couple who were just staying here because it was an easy walk from the train station and the price was good. However I would not stay here if I had kids with me.
PS. the photos showed a kitchenette which was a reason we booked this one as well. However the in order to use the kitchenette, you must pay a daily fee and be a long term stay which defeats the point of trying to save money on cooking in.
Odd that you checked in at one building and stayed at another. Room was okay but no coffee, cabinets were taped up.
Location was sketchy. Bar and lounge on ground floor with people lounging until 4:30 am. Strip club across the street with women walking aroun all night and one guy driving a $150,000 Bentley with his own parking place.
