"This is probably the best place to stay in Tropea. It is good prices, clean and very good rooms, and the owner Francesco is fantastic. He is so helpful, and a really great guy. He saved us at 22 pm one evening without a room and fixed a room for us. The room was clean, with great aircondition and nice bathroom. A little walk to the beach, but that is worth it. Will recommend this to everyone!!"

8/10 Good

"Nous avons beaucoup aimé l’environnement, la piscine, la plage, les petits déjeuners, la proximité à pied des restos."

10/10 Excellent

"A great place to stay in Tropea and just a 5 minute walk from everything. Great breakfast but it opens at 8;00 am so if you have an early train departure you will miss it - a pocket breakfast was offered but we didn't do it due to our 7:30 departure. Great and very friendly staff who do everything for you. Well worth the stay!"

8/10 Good

"We had a lovely holiday and really enjoyed our stay. The hotel has many great facilities, especially the spa and gym, which were a real bonus. Our child absolutely loved the nursery, and there was a great selection of activities to keep them entertained. The lunch and dinner buffets were very good, with plenty of choice. However, after a longer stay, we felt the menus became quite repetitive. It would be nice to see a little more variety throughout the week, both at breakfast and during lunch and dinner. One suggestion would be to serve breakfast until 10:30am. On several mornings, food started being cleared away before 10:00am, which felt a little rushed. As the hotel has such a relaxing atmosphere, it would be nice if breakfast service reflected that and remained fully available until the advertised finishing time. Our room wasn’t one of the newer refurbished rooms, as none were available to book, which was understandable. However, the shower was a real disappointment. The water temperature constantly changed from freezing cold to boiling hot without anyone touching the controls, making it very difficult to shower comfortably, especially with a child. We reported this and requested that a plumber look at it. Although we were told someone had attended, unfortunately nothing seemed to have changed and the problem continued for the rest of our stay. The only other issue was smoking in the evenings. While we understand this isn’t entirely the hotel’s fault, the number of pe"

Hotel Village Eden

10/10 Excellent

"I review hotels so hard for me to turn my work head off However if I were writing up Village Eden. I would say a wonderful paradise for all travellers. Great for couples & families. I has an apartment in the annex up the hill and it was perfect. The hotel itself if lovely. The beach is absolutely beautiful. The staff is super sweet and welcoming. Always ensuring that we had everything we needed. Getting from the annex up on the hill to beach side hotel was a breeze. Golf carts pick you up on request quickly. Never waited more than 3 minutes before the golf cart pick up arrived and that’s available until midnight which is great if you’re having late drinks at the hotel restaurant which was so so fantastic The cocktails were superb.perfect Service &Food so very delicious. Wonderful chef and selection for every type of diet. The private beach is beautiful and each room has alotted beach loungers guaranteed. The pool was awesome if sand isn’t your thing. So glad I chose Village Eden for my personal holiday in Capo Vaticano. I would suggest car hire to get around the area and an afternoon visit to Tropea. Te horse offers a parking space for each room. I LOVE THIS PLACE."

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Zungri?

The best area to stay in Zungri is within the historic centre of the town itself, particularly around the Piazza del Popolo.

This area is the heart of Zungri, offering a genuine taste of local life with its narrow, winding streets and traditional Calabrian architecture. You'll find local cafes, small shops selling regional produce, and the main church, the Chiesa di Santa Maria della Neve, all within a short walk. The layout is compact and easily explored on foot, providing a relaxed and authentic experience.

Couples looking for a quiet retreat will find the historic centre particularly appealing. It's an ideal base for enjoying slow mornings, exploring the local culture, and dining at authentic trattorias. The pace of life here is unhurried, allowing for a truly relaxing break.

For those interested in exploring the unique archaeological site of the "Grotte di Zungri" (Cave Settlement), staying in the historic centre means you're just a short walk or drive away.

When is the best time to go to Zungri?

The best time to visit Zungri is during the shoulder seasons, specifically April to June and September to October, to enjoy pleasant weather and fewer crowds.

During these months, the temperatures are comfortably warm, ideal for exploring the historic sites and the surrounding countryside without the intense heat of mid-summer. You'll find it's a great time for leisurely walks through the village, discovering its ancient caves and the Museo della Civiltà Contadina. For couples, these periods offer a more tranquil and intimate experience, superb for enjoying the local cuisine and the scenic views without feeling rushed.

Families travelling with children will also appreciate the milder weather, making outdoor activities more enjoyable. The beaches along the nearby Coast of the Gods are still inviting for a dip, and it's easier to find a quieter spot to relax.
