"The Hotel Riu Cancun had pros and cons regarding our recent visit. First of all, they were very nice to allow early check-in, as the staff was great the entire stay..from the front desk to the waiters. We did have an issue with our card keys to begin our trip, and had to make the trip from our 11th floor back to the lobby to get the card keys activated. The elevator broke down on our stay, and it took a while to get up and down as the entire hotel was limited to two lifts only. Once we checked in and freshened up, we reallized our shower drain was not working, however, they were quick to fix it, although it was not fixed completely, as slow drainage continued. The food was good overall, with a big variety. My biggest complaint regarding our stay was the temperature of the water in all swimming pools...it wasn't even bath water, more like a sauna. When vacationing in the heat of Mexico, a cold water swimming pool is a must, and you would certainly expect that at a resort such as the RIU. This was mid-may, I can't even imagine had it been July or August. I must commend the staff once more, they were excellent for the duration of our 4 night stay."
