You can get to this beautiful working buddhist temple by bus from most train stations in Fukui. Look for the kanji 永平寺. This temple is constructed of wood and displays beautiful traditional Japanese Buddhist temple architecture styles. Make sure to take your shoes off at the entrance and put on the slippers provided.

![Eiheiji Temple in Fukui Prefecture is a living working Temple. It trains monks from all over Japan. The grounds there are gorgeous in all season and you can see the monks at work. Don't take pictures of them though its forbidden.

The temple doesn't offer tours in English but when you arrive they will have pamphlets for you to read as you walk around in English giving you the history and facts about the temple.
