This was a superb stay due to a family feel and exceptional, caring staff. Everything was lovely, except the fact that we were in the old part of the hotel which is not very suited to extreme heat in the summer. Fans were provided but to little avail., it was roasting, even with door open at night. The room itsel was old fashioned but spacious and nice, good beds, good shower, lovely breakfast in the morning. Hotel is a short walk from everywhere, lots of food options in the vicinity. Nearby busses. Good facilities including a swimming pool. On arrival the receptionist was very welcoming and helpful. The room was spacious and was adequately furnished. The bathroom was a little tired but it was clean enough. For the price point I couldn't really fault the hotel. Also charging guests £10 to use the building site at the premises to park their cars is just penny pinching. No hair conditioner provided so couldn’t wash my hair. Really wasn’t worth the £175 for the night if I’m honest. I get it’s an old building but I’ve stayed at old hotels in the past and they’ve been kept in better condition. Creaky bed, creaky floorboards and when husband used the shower, it wouldn’t turn off. I enjoyed the stay, particularly use of a drcent sized pool and a steam room. Cooked breakfast was excellent. Staff were warm and welcoming. The hotel itself is a little dated and could do with a sympathetic makeover of the decor.
