The best area to stay in Xitta is the historic centre, particularly around Piazza Umberto I.This area is the heart of Xitta, characterized by its narrow, winding streets and traditional Sicilian architecture. You'll find many local shops, trattorias, and cafes here, all within easy walking distance. The piazza itself is a focal point, often bustling with local life, and the Church of San Giovanni Battista is a prominent landmark.Couples looking for a romantic escape will find the historic centre particularly appealing. The evenings offer a chance to stroll through the atmospheric streets, enjoy an authentic Sicilian dinner, and perhaps find a quiet spot for a drink. Its central location also makes it convenient for exploring the town's cultural sites on foot. For families, the area just outside the immediate historic centre, particularly towards the Villa Comunale, offers a good balance. You're still very close to the town's amenities and the piazza, but accommodation options often include properties with more space or small gardens, providing a bit more room for children to play.

The best time to visit Xitta, Sicily, is during the shoulder seasons of May, June, and September, when the weather is pleasant for exploring and the crowds are smaller. These months offer warm, sunny days superb for sightseeing and enjoying the local culture without the intense heat and larger tourist numbers of July and August. You'll find it easier to book quality accommodation and secure reservations at popular restaurants. For those who enjoy beach activities and don't mind warmer temperatures, July and August are also suitable, though they are the busiest months. The sea is at its warmest then, ideal for swimming and watersports. However, be prepared for higher prices and more people at popular attractions.
