This hotel is not in operation
Booked this hotel on 7/3, received a confirmation email from the proprietor asking for my arrival time (to which I responded), and arrived the evening of 7/4 to find the hotel closed, dark, and empty. Next door, restaurant staff told us it had been closed for at least a month, and that guests frequently booked it only to find, as my friends and I did, that it is not in operation. We had to scramble to find last-minute accommodation on a holiday weekend when nearly everything was booked. Please do not book a room here.

The management of Hammo's deeply regrets that Expedia accepted a booking for a closed property. We have been closed since early March and Expedia was well informed of this information at that time and I have contacted them again to close until further notice. They will refund any charges. Very sorry for your trouble.

Very unique inn with cool collectibles. Beds were very comfortable. Breakfast spread was lovely with lots of choices. Fun game room with pool tables. We stayed mid week so very quiet and had the place pretty much to ourselves.

Clean and cozy rooms. We stayed one night for a trip up to Windham with my family which included 4 kids from 2 to 13. Gloria was very responsive, check in and check out was a breeze. It was a quick drive to Windham and we were lucky to be able to get 3 rooms for one night during the middle of a holiday weekend.

Nice Lodge
We stayed here while skiing at Hunter Mountain. This lodge is 20 minutes from the Mountain, but the staff was more than willing to accommodate our dog. It was quiet. There is a kitchen area for anyone to use and food for the guests to eat. I would come here again.

Unfriendly staff. The staff waa mad because rhwy thought we were arriving earlier. After we went up to the room i went to the car to get my phone charger i was locked out of the hotel. Had to go through an exterior stairway an for my luck we were on the corner room and after a while my wife heard me and open an emergency door and finally i was abke to go back in. I saw other guests having the same problem.

We are sorry for any inconvenience and we will look into your issue. Everyone is sent an with the code for the front door before they arrive and then again at the front desk. We are always happy to accommodate arrival times for our guests, I can not speak to your situation but we have not had any other issue with entering the building. Our guest's are grateful for the security we provide. Again, we will look into your feedback and improve what we can to make entering a keycode easier for our guests.

Easy access after hours. Room was nice, but bottom sheet was not very comfortable, so I slept on the top sheet which was much higher quality. I had an excellent nights sleep.

Decent place
A decent hotel for the area and for its price. The noise cancellation is not very well, so if you have loud neighbors that could be an issue. People work there are extremely nice, however.

Our worst, embarrassing and humiliating experience. This place is run be irresponsible hotel management crew Here's our story.... - Reserved a room, "checked in" on schedule at 4:20 PM, paid in advance, received the key, examined the room, and left the hotel to visit some friends in the area. - Returned at 11:00 PM with my wife to retire for the night, turned the key and opened the door. At that instance we heard screams coming from inside the dark room - 'Hey! Hey! Hey!', "What're you doing, what're you doing", "Get outta here" in aggressive voices ... obviously they gave the same room to some other customers ... this is inexcusable. - There was no staff on the premises, the office door was locked, called their phone number, and all I got was a voice message stating that operating hours are during the day time ... we were stranded. - By chance, a neighbor across the street was returning home late that night, we approached him and explained our situation. Luckily he had the hotel manager's mobile number, and was able to contact. - Later that night the manager returned to the hotel to meet us, says "sorry it's my fault", and gave as a different room, asserting "you don't have to pay for this" (although we had already paid for the room in advance). - As of today (one week later), no additional contact was initiated from management, or have seen any refund, and most likely, will never get one. How could anyone run a hotel business, where in emergencies can not be contacted.

I am sorry to hear that you had such an unusual experience. We will look into your feedback and see how we can improve. We are a small lodge and someone is not always available at the front desk. There are contact numbers in case there are questions or our guests have a special need. Our staff is always close by or at another property and can be at the Lodge in 10 minutes or less. Again, this should not have happened, but human-error does occur at times. We will take precautions to ensure it never happens again.

Very clean and the bed was so comfortable! Very friendly staff. Pillows were too flat, volume didn’t work on remote. Floors very creaky (it’s an old building) and when people walked upstairs it was pretty loud. Didn’t love the pedestal sink in the bathroom-no place to put my stuff. That said, I loved the quaintness of it and the location was great. Had a fantastic dinner at Vesuvius next door.

This lodge was very cute. Gloria, the hotel manager, went above and beyond in accommodating our every need, and made us feel that we were right at home. The rooms were spacious, and there was a beautiful continental breakfast spread for us in the morning before we hit the road to head back home. Would definitely stay again!

Staff were very nice. Some dust bunnies under the bed but otherwise clean. Not hotel’s fault but some loud guests. Was bummed restaurant /pub was closed. Continental breakfast very basic. Hard boiled eggs over cooked. Ended up eating out. I would stay there again. It’s got a cute little trail out back.

The bar and the restaurant has been closed since Mar. Well advertised on the website and other booking engines have removed it as well. I will need to put a watch out for you David, I totally understand why you always have trouble when you get to a Hotel as you explained to me (on one of the 20 times you called or messaged). At first, I thought it was strange that other Hotels would not honor your room reservation when you arrived, We tried to accommodate you but no matter what you said, you kept changing your mind about your travel details. As far as breakfast, you got up after it was over and I offered to make you something and you did not want it! There should be a way to rate out travelers so other Hotels can be aware of our past experiences also!

Everything was great except the restaurant area was closed. Very friendly staff, clean and cozy rooms. There was a dining area, pool room, darts and an outside patio with seating. Quite and pleasant area and view.

We stayed in the lodge in Room 11 and had a very miserable experience. It was very hot in in summer and there was no AC provided for 4 days. Also, the cleaning service lady did it show up for the first 3 days. The breakfast was subpar. The front desk person was hardly there when we needed help. I would not recommend anyone to stay here. We checked out one day ahead because of how bad the conditions were and requested if we could get a partial refund for all the inconveniences for the last night and the front desk lady told us she would send u an email but never did. Very unprofessional.

We are sorry to hear that you had a less than perfect stay. There is a door hanger that you must put on the door handle and it was never out. We cannot enter a room without permission. There are numbers listed to call or text if you need anything. Breakfast is continental, we provide Yogurt, bagels, muffins, English muffins, cereals, hard boiled eggs, Fresh fruit,juice, tea and coffee! With that said, we apologize for any inconvenience and will provide a partial refund.

Hammos staff were excellent, especially Amanda! It’s a family friendly bed and breakfast that’s only a short drive away from Hunter Mountain. I would definitely stay there again.

2 night stay. Beds were not made up after 1st night. Bed in room 14 was the most uncomfortable I have slept on in recent memory. Room needed dusting, hornets living in room, continental breakfast served late and left out all day, 3 choices of wifi were all basically unusable.

Lovely weekend stay.
I loved the hotel. Staff was friendly. The place had a lot of character. It reminded me of a hotel I used to work. The room was small and bare bones, but the experience of the hotel is going to the Lounge or numerous seating areas and socializing with fellow guests. My only complaint is the mattress was incredibly hard and not as comfortable as I would have liked.

We booked two rooms. One room had a peep hole in the front of the door which you could see clearly right through it. We asked for our money back for that room and they said that they should not have booked us in that room because it is under construction. Makes no sense to me. Floors were not swept either which was a major turn off. Overall, 3 out of 10 experience and would probably not stay here again.

Love the old style lodge
Amanda at the front desk was amazing, so helpful and sweet with anything we needed. The pub had very good food and a nice bar area. The rooms were basic but adequate, the walls are thin. Would definitely stay here again!

Hammo's is glad that you spent your getaway with us. We have a DJ on Friday nights and occasionally Sat. Solo acts, but yes we do need to close early. We appreciate that some people want to stay out later than others, but we are a small lodge that dates back to the 1800s and we try to respect the overall consensus of our guests. The good news is that there are 2 other restaurants in walking distance to the lodge! We are always working on ways to improve the quality of all of our customer's stays! We appreciate your feedback. Unpleasant experience at Hammos
I planned to stay at Hammos for the weekend with two friends for a ski trip, but unfortunately we had to cut out stay here short. When we made it to our room, we saw the bathroom floor and bed sheets were covered in dirt and dog hair. Amanda who was very gracious changed our sheets and apologized, fine. Throughout the night we heard people in neighboring rooms and in the hallways very clearly, the walls are thin here. The next evening after returning from skiing we tried to shower, around 6pm. There was no hot water and we were told to wait until 11pm to shower so there would be hot water. This was unacceptable- a hotel should have clean sheets and hot water at the least. We found somewhere else to stay for our last night. I wish I had better things to say about Hammos but I would not recommend staying here. There are likely many nicer, cleaner places to stay that have enough staff to properly manage their facilities.

Disappointing stay at Hammos
This review is for the Lodge only. I came to Hammos with two friends for a weekend ski trip. Amanda was very nice in contacting us prior to our stay and facilitating check-in. However, when we arrived we noticed the bathroom floor had dog hair all over it, and the sheets were also covered in dirt and dog hair and we were suspicious that they were not changed. We contacted the front desk and Amanda swapped the sheets, which was fine. The next evening we returned from skiing and wanted to shower, but there was no hot water. We went downstairs and we were told that because everyone was showering there was no hot water and we would have to wait until 10-11pm to shower (it was 5pm). We were very upset, and we felt that at the very least a hotel should have clean sheets and hot water. We chose to check out of the hotel and find a new accomodation because we simply needed to shower and felt this was unacceptable. Furthermore, it was very loud in the mornings- you could clearly hear guests in other rooms, in the hallway, and above you. The walls were thin and our door had a crack that let light and futher sound in. Hammos is a cute lodge on the outside but even for people low-maintence requests, the hotel does not satisfy. I am sorry to leave a bad review because I know Amanda did try to accomodate us, but I would not stay here again nor would I recommend this place to anyone else in the future.
