Short stay in Lake District, Windermere was a good base to explore. Property is very central and very cosy, perfect for accommodating 2 or 3 people. Cutlery dishes and mugs were not properly washed ( greasy); Parking is free, but quite challenging due to tight passage and little room for manouvering unless you have a small car. My partner and I stayed at Beech Cottage for 6 nights. The owner was extremely helpful and friendly when we called her on arrival with a question. The cottage was modern, clean and the owner has used the space well. Lots of nice little touches to make it seem homely such as dvds, board games and necessities in the kitchen. The cottage is separated from the main streets by a little alley so although it’s really close to shops and restaurants it’s also very peaceful and quiet. We found some nice takeaways close by and it’s only a short walk from train station and the beautiful Lake Windermere. Lots of lovely walks and trails close by too. The cottage is an excellent base for anyone looking to explore Cumbria.
