Hikers can lace up for Wansfell Pike (4.5 miles), one of many waymarked routes in the area, and enjoy the sunset. For a culture fix, dip into Wordsworth's world in Grasmere (9.5 miles) or The World of Beatrix Potter (3.5 miles).

Approach Applethwaite Hall via the long, private driveway and park your car. Step through the grand entrance and up to the second floor to reach your apartment.
