"Lovely friendly owners. Beautiful house with spacious bedrooms and really comfortable beds. Nice breakfast. Also has a great tennis court which can be used. Need to have a car though as a little bit out of town but plenty of cheap and reliable local cab companies."

We enjoyed a drink on the patio area behind the annexe & Luis was very helpful with ice for us, as well as driving & parking recommendations. "Stayed here for a week as a base to mooch around Mayo where my family roots are. Hotel decor is a little tired here and there but that did not affect our enjoyment or not make hotel VFM. Lots of friendly local/Irish staff, which I think helps to add warmth to the atmosphere and is perhaps unusual for this size of hotel - perhaps because of Westport’s size? Food is great. Had been meaning to climb Croagh Patrick for a while and finally got round to it this time. This is not for the feint-hearted and is very long and steep - no one mentioned this to me before - maybe because it’s a pilgrimage/penance thing - it’s not meant to be easy. But it’s near enough a scramble in places - never come across a ‘tourist’ track so challenging before. Pick a good day weather-wise, dress appropriately and take plenty of water. If you’ve got sticks use them. Some climbers were rocking up looking as if they’d just stepped out of the pub - this hill needs a bit more respect than that imho. Mayo is my favourite place in the world - enjoy! Slan."
