The house was well supplied with everything you need. The river view is beautiful. The bedroom next to the porch could use a headboard, or a protective board across the windows behind the bed. We had a great time there.
Loved the house and especially the back porch overlooking the water. Everything was clean and well-stocked. Gracious host. Would love to stay again on return trips.

William was a great host. The house is super quiet and quaint. We loved that we could have the dogs with us and the yard is a great size to play ball with them and let them run around. The river and pond are perfect for fishing and downtown is walkable. Super cute restaurants on main street.
The Sterling House was very comfortable, clean & quiet. Easy location to find, nicely located for access to the area’s sights. We visited the area for a wedding over in Moorehead City, NC Aquarium on the coast.
The visit, the wedding, the people we met were some of the kindest of folks..
Nice to visit a small town with that small town feeling.
Great time, great place, can’t wait to visit again.
The perfect location for sunrises, sunsets, walks to town. The historic neighborhood is charming and was decorated for Christmas while we were there. The house is so comfortable and our host was readily available for any questions we had.
We plan to return to see the area dressed up for spring.
Went with my dog for a simple, quiet weekend getaway. The interior of the home was very clean, had everything i needed and more. The neighborhood is pretty and very walkable. Communication from William was just right. Teally enjoyed mt stay, i would go back.
We really enjoyed this home. It was peaceful, well equipped and quiet. The house was very clean and well maintained. The location is fabulous!! We could walk to downtown or walk the other way and visit the inner water outfitters. Close to restaurants and grocery store.
Greatly enjoyed our stay at the Sterling House. Spent evenings on rear porch looking out to the Pamlico River. Walked into town for lunch, dinner or just to meander along the riverfront. William was a wonderful host.
This is a lovely home in a peaceful location. Set on the river, it was a soothing place to wake up in the morning. The host provided everything we needed for our two night stay. Washington, NC offers a rich history with wonderful shops and restaurants.
We truly enjoyed our stay in Washington. The end and beginning of each day was very special because of our stay in Sterling House. So peaceful by the river. The house was so lovely. My husband and I have a love of historic homes.
This home was a clean, comfortable and perfect place to stay for our weekend getaway for a family wedding. It’s on the water and in a quiet neighborhood but yet it was very close to the uptown wedding rehearsal dinner @Hackneys and to the reception at the Mulberry House on Main Street. Would love to return at a later date to tour the town.
Lovely period home in heart of historical district. Host was most accommodating! He answered all our questions, and provided us with everything we needed to have a wonderful stay. The view of the Pamlico River from the porch was incredible! We look forward to staying at the Sterling House when we return to Washington.
The hosts made it super easy check in and out. Beautiful views. Very close to waterfront district with all the quaint little shops. Val’s bakery is a must! Hosts were easily accessible. Perfect get away with a peaceful view of the sound.
everything better than advertised. charming house. wonderful location. drinking coffee on back deck in the morning, watching river and birds was the highlight. relaxing and restorative.👍
William the host was friendly and responsive. The house had great views of the Pamlico and was just far enough from the stores and restaurants to be quiet while still an easy walk to all the fun stuff. Great starting point for a run upriver or down river. We used the house as a base for some college visits, but if you arrive by boat, the house is an easy walk from the city dock for a couple of nights ashore!
Charming older home on the river. Porch has amazing views and a wonderful swing! Porch was shaded and provided the perfect place for meals and relaxing while watching the boats on the river. House was very clean and well stocked. Very please with our stay. Would love to rent again.
Charmingly appointed home nestled in a lovely quiet neighborhood along the river. Included all the amenities needed for a restful stay. Great proximity to downtown to walk and enjoy a meal. Perfect location to use as a base camp for birding the surrounding area. Has lots of comfortable outdoor spaces to unwind with a glass of wine after a long day. Perfect backyard for our Labrador to enjoy some free time in the evenings.
Nicely maintained home with all you need for a perfect stay.
Nestled on a quiet street just minutes walk from historic downtown and riverfront walk.
Large covered porches with the back porch having a river view and we enjoyed an occasional slow moving train going past.
Management is very accommodating and fast to respond.
Highly recommend.
Beautiful little house n a quaint town. Owner SUPER easy to work with and communication was spot on! We were there during tropical storm Ophelia and he was sure to make sure we were safe. Views once the storm cleared were AMAZING!
We often visit Washington to go fishing on the Pamlico. We usually make it a day trip. We wanted to stay for a few days with our dogs and booked the Sterling House. It was a relief to find a place that allows dogs, first of all. The house was clean. I loved the character of the house. The view was amazing and peaceful. I would definitely recommend booking a stay here.
