Nestled on a quiet street just minutes walk from historic downtown and riverfront walk. Sep 27, 2025 Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, communication, location, listing accuracy The Sterling House checks all the boxes. Pet-friendly (our dog loved running around in the fenced backyard), clean, sooo cozy, and convenient to everything. The beds are super comfy and the kitchen is well-stocked. We felt very much at home there. There are two parks within walking distance (one less than 1/8th mile), it's walkable to downtown, and the street is historic, quiet, and lovely. The view from the deck is incredible! The river is closer to the house than it appears in the listing pictures, and we spent much of our time on the deck or in the great room appreciating the view. We were even lucky enough to have a train pass by one morning, and we saw the old swing bridge in action. Check-in couldn't be more effortless, and the host responds very quickly. We were also pleased with the variety and quality of the restaurants in Washington. Can highly recommend The Bank Bistro and Bar (amazing Caesar salad), Pam's diner, and Havens Mill Pizza (take out only). Truly one of our favorite rentals of all time. Owner SUPER easy to work with and communication was spot on! We were there during tropical storm Ophelia and he was sure to make sure we were safe.
