Eaton DC is a whole vibe! I loved it! I felt at home. The staff is welcoming and authentic. My room had a salt lamp, soft throw blanket, and blue tooth speaker that help set the vibe. The hotel has 3 awesome bars, (including one on the roof top w/fire pit!) and an amazing bakery. But the best part was the 2nd floor… Wellness! During my stay at the Eaton DC, I enjoyed a 90 min massage as well as a 30 min Reiki session. It was everything! I chose the Eaton DC for my birthday weekend staycation and I was my best birthday yet!
We loved the vibe of this hotel, from the live radio at the entrance, to the old-school records in the room, to the books, the posters and other testaments to our DC history. The staff was very nice: very attentive, helpful and flexible. I would suggest they review the breakfast voucher system, as it is very limited in the options offered: just use a dollar value so people can get what they want (and you still contain the expenditure). The only significant disappointment was the rooftop bar. It was the least attractive feature of the property: the windows had shades all the way down, so you couldn't see out (isn't that the point of a rooftop?) and the space was hardly furnished, almost warehouse-like. Not an inviting space at all. Overall, though, would definitely go back to this hotel.
A nice place in a good location that is a perfectly pleasant D.C. hotel. On the smaller size in terms of the common areas or something like the fitness room, it nevertheless feels new and modern. And always kudos to a hotel that can get you into your room over three hours before the 3:00 check-in time - that's service!
I'm not a big a fan of businesses feeling some need to tout identity politics for a general use service like a hotel. It doesn't actually differentiate a type of business like this in any significant way, and thus is too self-conscious for a please-the-customer service enterprise. Large cities are already the bluest places anyway. Hotels attract customers through the quality of the property, its location, and service. Lib virtue signaling isn't part of that formula nor does it convey inclusivity.
