Two nights staying for the cherry blossom race
We traveled to DC for the Cherry Blossom 10-mile and decided to stay at the DoubleTree for the first time. We booked a room with one king-sized bed in a deal that included no extra parking or WiFi fees. The hotel was clean and the staff was friendly. It seemed very popular for large groups and conferences and we had to wait a little bit when checking in late Friday night. However, when we finally went to check in, we were greeted graciously and given the signature DoubleTree cookies (very delicious).
Our room was spacious, comfortable and clean. The best part about the hotel was how convenient it was to the metro and DC. Although there is a shuttle, we decided to walk to the Pentagon City metro stop, which was a 5-7 minute walk. From there, it was only a short ride into DC.
We were given a letter on Saturday to warn us that the hotel would have a larger than usual amount of people checking out that Sunday and providing ideas to avoid the rush. When we arrived back at the hotel around 10:45 a.m. after the race, there was no line and we checked out quickly. It was great that the hotel staff thought proactively to let visitors know, and we were happy to have alternative check out options.
Overall, it was a wonderful stay. I'm hoping to plan a trip back to DC sometime soon, and I will definitely look to stay in the DoubleTree again.
