"We have stayed in and around Newport for years at various inns and bed and breakfasts. So I'll give you the good and the bad. When we first pulled up it looked like a great older building, but once we walked in it had kind of sterile feel to it that we couldn't put our finger on. Until, that is, we overheard another guest reading from the literature in the common area that it had once been a home, then it was nursing home for a period of time and eventually converted into an inn. This explained what my husband described as the decor as "staying in a fancy hospital room". We arrived early, which we knew, but decided to check in & see if the room was ready- it wasn't- no problem. We were assured we would be texted when it was and never received any text. We finally made our way back to be given a room on the first floor, right off the lobby. The view was the deck, so had it been summer I'm not sure if we would have had a gaggle out our window but the current view was a dumpster and a broken down old car in someone's yard covered with algae. The noise in the hallway all night with people coming and going meant we were woken up several times. But I held out, because I had heard the breakfast was great from the reviews I read. Nope. My husband accurately said "we have have better contintental breakfasts at a La Quinta". Everything was frozen and you had to heat it. Overall, not impressed. The bed was fine and comfortable and the location not bad. But other than that- disappointed."

"Pros: Staff was great and very helpful. Balcony views were excellent. Great location. Close to everything. Room was plain but clean. Cons: Phone didnt work. Wifi was very poor. Tv had limited channels. Heater for pool was broken during our stay, they did try to fix it and offered us a discount for the inconvenience. "
