This location has some of the most pristine and lightly visited beaches on the island – it’s just a short 3 to 4 minute walk to Sugar Beach. 5 miles of beautiful, sandy, secluded beach. Or, walk directly to a small hidden beach right in front of the complex. This is the best kept secret on Maui! Our condo is direct oceanfront! Maalaea village is a gem with its central location and its fantastic trade winds. They provide a cooling breeze that keeps the temperatures just right. We also have a timer controlled A/C just in case the cross breeze in the unit isn't enough for you. There are ceiling fans in every room as well. From the lanai, gaze out and watch the sunrise over Haleakala (House of the Sun), the long dormant 10,000 foot volcano. Watch green sea turtles bobbing up for air and rolling in the surf, even sunning themselves on the beach. In the winter months (Nov-April) you will have a front row seat to breaching whales as they come back to the islands to give birth and nurse their young in the warm Hawaiian waters. In the summer months during a good south swell, you can watch surfers on the legendary surf break “Freight Trains”, the world’s fastest surfable wave. Beautifully landscaped grounds with a heated pool will make any stress you have brought with you melt away. Slip into to the pool and enjoy the ocean view while you relax in the Maui sun. This is also the only complex in Maalaea with a Jacuzzi. The kitchen has stainless steel appliances and is fully equipped with cooking utensils, pots, pans, blender and all of the other essential supplies to comfortably enjoy cooking and eating in. (Even a Keurig for you coffee lovers!)There is also a great BBQ area oceanfront so you can enjoy the view while you cook. Our Master Suite has a king-sized bed with a brand new mattress. Our bathroom is beautifully tiled with a clean updated and stylish look. 100% cotton bath towels and hand towels are of course provided. Enjoy a meal on the private lanai or just sit out and enjoy the view A 5 minute walk takes you to Maalaea Harbor where you will find a small grocery store, deli, craft market, restaurants and the Maui Ocean Center (Maui’s #1 tourist attraction), the Pacific Whale Foundation, miniature golf, shopping and most of the ocean activities available on Maui (sunset dinner cruises, deep sea fishing, snorkeling tours & whale watching). My wife and I loved how close (Sugar) beach is relative to the condo as well as to the Maalaea Harbor Maui for activities. We could easily walk to the beach or if we wanted, it was only a 2 minute drive, and could quickly return to the pool and hot tub to continue our day! We even saw turtles in front of the complex for the property both in the water and on the beach which was a treat. We did Maui goat yoga, visited the Maui winery and drove part way on the road to hana to see the twin falls, bamboo forest and the rainbow tree. The condo is very nice and updated. The area is fairly quiet and you can walk to the beach nearby. There was even an opportunity for us to watch sea turtles on the beach closeby. It was really nice to have the beach chairs and towels to use as well as a small cooler to take to the beach etc (saved us from having to buy one and then figure out what to do with it aftwards.) Close to everything but in an area that was not busy. Sea turtles come up on the beach at night. The park at the end of the street gives you access to a great beach. The balcony view is outstanding. The owners provided excellent instructions and quickly responded to our questions. The condo is located in a quiet area of South Maui. We appreciated that loads of restaurants and many other beaches - south, west and north - were only 15-30 minutes away. The unit, building and grounds are pristine. And the ocean-side pool/jacuzzi/lawn area was particularly inviting.The unit is fully stocked with every appliance, cooking utensil, and supply one needs for a beach getaway. (We loved that a vacuum and broom were on hand to always keep the floors free of sand). To top it off, the strong tropic breezes meant we never had to use the air conditioner. It was located near or a short drive from all the major sights to see. It was a less crowded area providing much peace to enjoy the beauty and nature of Maui. Our host provided so much we wouldn’t have thought to bring. As well as simple things such as laundry detergent and paper towels. It was like a family member had prepared our stay for us rather than an host. A lot of care was put into our enjoyment while staying at this location. We loved the view of the ocean from the balcony! The power had went out for a couple hours during our stay one day. We were able to get in touch with the owners. They were quick to respond and was able to contact the property manager to assist. Turns out the whole street had lost power but the power company got it back on fairly quickly. No other issues! The location was quiet and pristine. The apartment was beautiful and well appointed. It provided a centralized location which allowed us to get a leisurely start each day and yet accomplish all we wanted to see and do. The only challenge was that the elevator went out several times while we were there. They were fairly prompt in fixing the problem, but it became a repeated issue over the time of our stay.
