I stayed there when they had the floods. It’s more of a Bed And Breakfast than a hotel, which has its advantages. Here is my honest review. Pros- GREAT staff, normally 1 or 2 during day. Very helpful!!!! Breakfast was simple, but good. Location was excellent!!!! Older furniture that matches the decor and charming. Shared bathroom was not an issue. Same as a house. CLEAN Very quiet location Cons When the staff is not there sometimes during the day and not at night, you have no access to the small dining room. So if you are wanting to go in and relax while reading the paper or laptop, you can’t. And there’s not a typical lobby to sit down in. So your room is the only option. No TVs. To me this wasn’t necessarily an issue. I normally went for a run in the morning, came back, cleaned up, and I was gone for the day. To end, I enjoyed my stay. The staff, cleanliness and location were the key points that I normally look for.

Location is very good. Breakfast is great. Property is old and ragged. Room extremely small that I have to put my suitable on bed to open. Not kettle or drinking water in room. I won’t recommend it at all

This hotel has previously been advertised as providing AC in the amenities listed. So naturally, when I stayed here, I was under the impression there would be AC, but when I arrived I found out that there was not. It is EXTREMELY HOT, even with a fan. I do not recommend unless you are accustomed to no AC. I have elevated this to several unhelpful members of Expedia’s staff, who did not offer any solution. Keep in mind that Expedia has no interest in ensuring that you have a good experience, as their lack of service recovery has been disappointing. They did remove AC from the amenities, but have refused to make it right otherwise. We’ll NEVER book through Expedia again.

Lovely Little Hotel Near San Marco and Rialto
Venice was quite hot and consequently the lack of AC made it difficult to sleep even with the overhead ceiling fan. Hotel is lovely and at a quite reasonable price point for it's location. If you book, get detailed information about how to best access the hotel including precise directions via landmarks. It is a great location but difficult to find by Google Maps or other maps. Take water us from train station to Rialto.... it's well worth it. Easy 5 minute walk from there with suitcase trolly with no bridges to negotiate. Breakfast was simple but adequate with coffee or cappuccino offered.. with croissants, fruit, juice and hard boiled eggs...and traditional Italian fair....Hosts we're very helpful and accommodating.

Value for money hotel at a great location
Locanda Casa Petrarca is located in Rialto. It is so convenient walking distance to Saint Marco and Accademia. The host upgraded our room to a deluxe room with a canal view which is a rare bonus. The room is very clean and spacious. The host is very accommodating and cook scramble eggs for us which was not on the breakfast menu. Staff is very friendly. I will definitely recommend my friends to stay at this hotel. Value for money.

The property is small, but clean, modernized (with an elevator if needed) and very nice given it is located in such an ancient building. In the picture below the sign is a canal with gondolas going past! The location is fantastic-a short walk to St. Mark's square or Rialto Bridge, where the water taxi will take you directly to the airport. Valentina was very nice and provided us with everything we needed, including a very nice breakfast. When we left for the airport, we forgot our passports, Valentina arranged to have someone bring them to the airport. Superb visit and place, would go back tomorrow!

Wonderful service at a lovely, central hotel
I was hesitant about this hotel, but ended up loving it. We had a room with a shared bathroom, which is not usually so comfortable. But the price and location were great, so we decided to go for it and put up with a mediocre hotel stay. Valentina and her team completely turned our expectations around! Their level of service made our stay exceptionally wonderful. The room we were staying in was old fashioned, but lovely. Breakfast was delicious. We’re early birds and often ended up missing breakfast some days because we wanted to use our mornings to explore, so one time the staff actually made us a to-go bag with juice and water, and made sure we had some croissants and sandwiches to take with us! It was such a sweet gesture and really made our day. The location is also incredible. If you go one way, you hit Rialto Bridge in 3-5 minutes. If you go the other way, you’re in San Marco Square. It really could not be better. The bottom line is – this is a great hotel for travelers on a budget. Sure, it’s not the most fancy option possible – the walls are a little thin so it can be loud (but we had considerate neighbors so it was okay), of course having to share a bathroom is not so great (but you can book a private room if that’s a big problem), and maybe the furniture is not luxurious (who cares, really). If you want luxury, maybe a more expensive hotel is better. But for the price and location, plus the level of service, I doubt you can find a better option.

This hotel is in a great location - a few minutes walk from Saint Marks square and the Academia bridge. It was easy to access from the Rialto ferry stop and our room opened onto a canal which was amazing. Breakfast was nice and the room was very clean. Our hostess pointed out all the best sights and gave us a map. Great hotel for the price point.

This hotel is one of the hidden gems in Venice. Very friendly staff, good breakfast which is included in the price and close to everything. Well worth the price and outstanding staff.

Great place to stay!
Fabulous location within short walking distance of all the main attractions of beautiful Venice, our room had everything we needed and sharing a bathroom was not a problem. The fantastic breakfast each morning was a treat and set us up for the day. Valentina and Stefano welcomed us warmly to their hotel and recommended some great places to visit and local restaurants to have our evening meal. We had a lovely time and would return to the Locanda Casa Petrarca again without hesitation.

What a find in Venice.
We found this little Guest House (Inn) on Hotels.com. What A Find. A few minutes walk from Rialto, a few minutes from St Marks, close to everything. The service was fantastic, and Valentina and her couldn't have been more helpful. We arrived late, after they had already left, and there was cold water in the fridge in our room. Out the next day, back to the room being stopless and beds made. Breakfast is continental style, and I saw reviews saying it was small. Well just ask, and you got what you wanted. Breakfast starts at 8am, but as we were leaving around that time, they opened 30 minutes early so we could eat a On the orange line back to the airport this morning, and realised I had left my charger. Again, no trouble, just " give me your home address, and I'll post to you". Highly recommend this to anyone. Only really small downside, was that due to the restricted space, there was no sofa / lounge area to chill when back, however, if the choice was an extra room for income and a lounge,I would also choose to have the extra room. Great little place, and so very welcoming.

I wanted to take my parents to Venice during our European trip. While the weather was cold from the snow (which I enjoyed), the location was very nice and exceeded my expectations. The manager Valentina was very helpful in providing us tips and suggestions (listen to her!!!). The breakfast provided was great to get us through the day and ready for an early dinner. You are centrally located between the Rialto and San Marco Square which I thought was great. If you are bringing heavy luggage, I recommend using their porter service (try to negotiate pricing). If you can, try to upgrade to the Superior room. You get a nice view of the canal and your own bathroom. All in all, Valentina and the staff made it a very great experience and the cleanliness and helpfulness is what is motivating me to write this review.

Close to everything we needed.
Only spent 3 days here but could have spent much more. The staff was very helpful and great with directions, which we really needed. On the day we departed they called a porter for us. I'm not going to say the room was spacious but we didn't need much more. The hotel was full but there were only 7 rooms so we had a slight wait for breakfast. One suggestion if going to Venice. Bring something on your phone that will give directions because you are going to get lost.

The best management!
We arrived earlier than check in time and they accommodated us without any hassle. We actually had a beautiful room upgrade with a spectacular view. We ate breakfast here a couple of times and felt they went above and beyond to keep us happy. She actually brought coffee to our room one morning! We were thankful to have such a great place to stay!

A true hidden gem! Great location, staff, clean rooms, amenities and quiet street area! I will be happy to recommend anyone and would book there again in a heartbeat! Little fairytale gem in a perfect location.
The most beautiful fairytale magical little place wuth the most warm welcome possible tucked away in a perfect, central location. Sadly we had such a short stay, arriving early evening and having to leave first thing in the morning before breakfast to catch our flight. But this was the perfect end to our perfect trip to Venice and we couldn't believe how lovely this little guesthouse was. The room was spotless, fresh and airy, with so much attention to providing all the little extras you wouldn't expect from a 1-star rating. Couldn't have asked for more. Only sad that we weren't able to have the breakfast in the beautiful little breakfast room as we had to leave so early. Location ideal- little bit quiet down the little sidestreet for 2 girls travelling alone but literally less than 2 minutes from central square leading to both Rialto and St Marks within 10 minute walk. The warm welcome from the host was the icing on the cake. Idyllic, wonderful little gem of a find. Would highly recommend and will definitely be back!

Lovely Inn in the Perfect Spot for 1st Timers
This was our first time to Venice so wanted to stay in the thick of things as it was a short trip. Locanda Petrarca was the perfect pick. In a side street with a canal at the end, it is quiet and calm but also a few minutes walk to more bustling piazzas and restaurants. Staff was very friendly and disarmingly multi-lingual (Americans are very impressed by this). They are insistent on breakfast, so don't try to be busy New Yorkers like us and sprint out in the morning. It was a much-needed pause, so they obviously know best. The room was very clean and comfortable enough. A shared bathroom between a couple rooms could pose a problem but I only waited once. And every time I entered it smelled and looked fresh and clean. Overall, a delightful little inn with a comfortable feel but not shabby in the least. Great spot for a quick or busy hop around Venice.

First of all, the location is perfect. Halfway between Rialto and the Piazza San Marco you are surrounded by sights. The staff are extremely helpful. I fell ill on my first day and Valentina phoned, booked and directed me to the doctor's office. The breakfast is decent and the room tidy. 100% recommend

Sun filled room overlooking bridge and canal, delicious breakfast, feels like part of Venice, not a "Hotel". Helpful staff provided excellent directions, tips for local travel and concert tickets. Would definitely stay there again and recommend to travelers who want a "real" Venetian experience but appreciate local assistance.

Cosy, family run hotel in a central location
We had a great experience staying here. The location was unbeatable, although we had a little bit of trouble finding it but it's very easy to get lost in Venice. The hotel was very helpful with directions to get there and the service was great. There was a small modern lift, which was great for our luggage. The room was small and we had a shared bathroom. The bathroom was modern, clean and only shared with one other room. We also appreciated the sink in the room, which can in handy. The breakfast here was amazing- they had the best croissants I've ever had. It was a shame we couldn't eat them on the final day as we had to leave early in the morning. San Marco is also a fabulous location as it's close to everything (within walking distance) and there are lots of bars/restaurants. It's not the cheapest area, but it was a great experience staying here if you want to be central.

Small hotel, with charm, in the heart of Venice
The hotel is small and charming. Easy to find, if you bring the map provided. (Don't expect locals to know where it is.) Location is perfect: on a quiet dead-end street, above a small canal, halfway between St. Marco square and the Grand Canal. We had a small room, with shared washroom. Sharing the washroom was no problem; it was large, always clean, and always available when we wanted it. The small room was minimal, but still pleasant. Elevator is small, but available, if you don't want to use the stairs. To be in the heart of Venice, at such a reasonable price, with a pleasant room and good breakfast, was wonderful! Re gondola ride - Do it! Especially in the evening, when there are fewer boats out there. It is touristy and expensive, but worth it. Just be sure to talk with the pilot before you agree to go. Some of the guys are cocky and arrogant. Others are lovely and accommodating. Get one that you are happy to have the experience with and hand your money over to.

We loved the central location. Easy walking distances to all attractions and water taxis. Our hosts were exceptionally helpful. Quaint hotel with all the conveniences. We would definitely stay here again. The larger room with canal view was awesome!

This is a lovely boutique hotel in a building from the 1300's, centrally located right on the canal. The staff was welcoming, helpful and made good suggestions about the town. The hotel is clean and has a wonderful breakfast. I would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a true Venetian experience.

Nice, clean rooms in the heart of the city
Venice is notoriously difficult to navigate. The owner-manager was very helpful in emailing me directions to the hotel (and which water bus to take from the train station) in order to reach the hotel ... although even then it was a bit tricky. The hotel is right in the middle of the city - minutes away from St. Marks and minutes away from the Rialto Bridge (on the other side of the island.) Great location, although its proximity between these two means there is a lot of pedestrian traffic below - which can be a bit noisy in the evening. The breakfasts are nice - coffee, cappiccino, juice, rolls, cereal and youghrt. Two of the rooms share a bathroom (one is literally across the front door to get to it). The rooms are clean, if a bit small.

Cute hotel in a perfect location.
This hotel is adorable, having only a couple of rooms and a really nicely furnished reception and breakfast room. That breakfast was included in the price was great, and it was a surprisingly great breakfast for a small hotel to have. This hotel was in the perfect location between San Marco and Rialto, and is right near many shops and restaurants. The owners were very helpful when we were organising our stay, giving us maps to the hotel location and letting us leave our suitcase after we had checked out so that we could enjoy Venice some more before our evening flight. Loved this hotel, and would definitely recommend for a small place to stay in the heart of Venice.

Friendly, truly local experience of Venice
This is a small and charming guesthouse more than it is a hotel - don't expect the slick professionalism of a larger hotel, but think of it as more like going to stay with a friend. You'll get a warm welcome from hosts who will stay in touch with you from the moment you book, give you advice and help about exploring Venice, and cater to your needs (early/late breakfast as needed, for example). The hotel isn't staffed full-time, so be aware that there won't always be someone there if you need it, but you can always reach the owners by phone. The location is great - central, but very quiet - and rooms are basic but comfortable and clean.

I had stayed there 3 years ago and was overconfident about knowing direction from St Marks Square.and managed to get us lost! For those approaching from that direction there are three exits on the far side of the Square and you need the furtherest left and continue straight ahead past a place where gondolas are berthed, over a bridge, past Armani's and then turn left, The entrance to the Casa Petrarca is a small side street on the left .A coloured flag at the end marks the doorway.You may need to ring two or three times but staff are often on the top floor so wait! Best to email in advance expected time of arrival. Enjoy wonderful Venice, this was my 4th visit to the city and despite one very wet day had a wonderful time(they had umbrellas to borrow)

Very close to anything that is anything
Great base to leave after breakfast, back for a shower before heading out for the evening. Perfect if you don't like hanging around hotels. So many places to choose from but so glad we stopped at Casa Petrarca.
