Quiet, peaceful and spacious with wonderful porch, dining and outdoor BBQ areas. Vanderpool has clear night skies for telescope observing and is surrounded by the beautiful Texas Hill Country (and Lost Maples Nature Preserve). The Cottage would have been the perfect location to see and experience the Eclipse as it was very near the Eclipse Center Line. Unfortunately on Eclipse day, heavy clouds and weather moved in over Vanderpool and we relocated north chasing blue sky pockets and partly cloudy skies to finally see the spectacular Total Eclipse in Junction, Texas. ##### Thomas B. But the house, appliances, linens, and furniture are worn and needs a good deep cleaning and upgrade. We are so grateful to have found a peaceful place to gather and enjoy our time together. We were impressed that the house had a lot of the little things we forgot at home, like coffee filters and extra towels! And the kind woman at the Firefox cabins office next door had a while list of ongoing events for the week. I appreciated that since we were unfamiliar with the area.
