Riviera di Ponente
We took a few days to explore the Riviera Di Ponente. This charming hotel in the small town of Balestrino is well worth the short scenic drive to escape the bustle of the coast. Run personally by the owners who are very hospitable and pay great attention to detail.

Great find
Fantastic little findaway from the crowds obly 20minsbut very peaceful, pool is small but with very few guests absolutely fine. Room was very clean and ow ers were very friendly

Welcoming Hotel with a View
Loved the small, quiet hotel with beautiful views down the valley. Our hosts were very welcoming and gave us wonderful tips to help us plan our sightseeing. We really liked all their recommendations. The room was very clean, wi-fi worked great, and if you wanted to eat a meal down in their dining area, they arranged for a cook to make a very nice meal. Loved their pesto lasagna, as well as the other dishes we tried. The road up to the hotel from the coast isn't that far, but parts are narrow. We got used to the road once we had driven it. The hotel is very near the caves (Grotte di Toirano), which were well worth touring.

The hotel is located in a small nice village nested in the hills of the ligurian appennine. The accommodation is very good and the location is very beautiful. All this was accompanied by a pleasant chat during breakfast with the owners Cristina and Raimondo, who have travelled the world and have a lot of interesting stories to say ...

Fabulous hotel nestled in hills.
A lovely hotel with only 9 rooms up in the hills but still only 20 mins from the coast. We were greeted on arrival by the super owners Christina and Raimundo who were the perfect hosts. Nothing was too much trouble throughout our stay. The pool and terrace was a peaceful place to relax and keep cool! If you want more exercise there are plenty of lovely walks and beautiful villages to visit. Our room was spotless and had a balcony with fabulous views. Although no air con in rooms there is a ceiling fan which is ok as long as not too hot. Meals were taken on the terrace. Dinner being available for hotel guests only. Breakfast was continental with lots of homemade pastries and as much coffee/tea as you wanted. Throughout the day Christina was always available to make drinks as required. More genial hosts would be hard to find. Raimundo and Christina speak more or less fluent English, French, German, and Italian of course! (Possibly other languages as well!) We thoroughly enjoyed our 6 nights in this lovely hotel and hope to return soon.

Quiet retreat in the mountains, close to the coast
We stayed several nights in July. The location was ideal for both the mountains and the coast. We appreciated having a restaurant on-site during the evenings, which was especially great with children who could go back to the room as needed. The food was also very good! The pool was big enough to paddle around in and play, and the outdoor area was very pleasant. Our room had a balcony and window in the bathroom, which made it possible to have a breeze through the room (no AC). The town was quiet, but also had a few restaurants and an excellent olive oil store. We would absolutely return.

Super nice owners who welcomed guests wholeheartedly. We got lost on the way and the owners were trying all they could to help us, include checking our car and giving us directions to Switzerland and Germany. Hotel is quietly located on mountain. Charming atmosphere. You need to have a car to get to this place though. Overall we were very happy with the service and would certainly recommend to those who can drive and have cars. Hospitality here was the best we received in many places in Italy.

Beautiful seclusion
The host, Raymond, is extremely friendly and knowledgeable. The service was impeccable! I believe we were the only guests the night we stayed, so Raymond had meals cooked just for us ... so special Thank You Raymond!

Wonderful Stay

Very enjoyable!!
Only used the hotel as a base due to an extensive sightseeing schedule but the owners Raimondo & Cristina were the perfect hosts and made us feel very welcome. Raimondo's bacon & eggs got our day off to a perfect start!! The dinner menu is varied and can recommend the carbonara. The rooms are comfortable and kept clean. In summary we hope to return one day...Magari!! (Raimondo will understand Magari!!)

Lovely family run hotel
Stayed in this little ten room hotel for two nights at the end of October with my 12 year old son. Beautiful setting about 15 mins into the mountains from the coast. The best thing about the hotel was the incredible hospitality and friendliness of Raimondo & Cristina. It is refreshing to stay somewhere where the couple so clearly enjoy running a hotel (even in the last week of the season). Brilliant advice on the local area. Very accommodating to a specific request I had about a late check in. The view from the room was beautiful: if possible make sure you have a top floor room with a balcony over the pool. We had 2 super breakfasts and one lovely home cooked evening meal. Only downsides was the pool was not really useable as it was unheated and so was about 12 Celsius! Hope to be able to return one day with other members of the family.

A delightful and quiet retreat in the hills.
We chose Ca' de Berna for it's location not far from the coastal motorway whilst en route from Genoa to the Côte d'Azur. A winding road took us up to the mountain village of Balestrino, where this small hotel nestled almost hidden from view. The welcoming host showed us to our ample sized bedroom and after freshening up, we joined other guests for dinner on the terrace. A good selection of both food and wine were on offer; our meals were delicious. After a good nights sleep and breakfast taken again on the terrace, we were on our way, totally refreshed.

Paradise in the mountains!
Staying at Ca' de Berna was truly one of the highlights of our trip. The view is absolutely incredible, room clean and comfortable but most of all the company of the owner unforgettable. He speaks very good English as well as Italian and German. We absolutely enjoyed swapping stories of our travels with him. We had a marvelous meal in his restaurant. I asked what a traditional meal for the area might be and he brought me Borage stuffed ravioli in a butter sage sauce and my husband Pesto Lasagna which was extremely flavorful but not overpowering like some Pesto can be. Then we shared a hearty rabbit dish with peppers and olives. As good as the meal was sharing his company was the best. Would go back in a heartbeat!

lovely relaxation stay in the hills of Balestrino
Ray and Christina were very gracious hosts. We had two hotel rooms as we were three friends traveling. both hotel rooms were clean and very comfortable. dinner just down the street in this tiny little neighborhood was also delicious -- at the restaurant where Ray and Christina served us. :-) we had a very lovely stay and what a beautiful region! i recommend this place if you are looking for a stay that is quiet and tucked away.

Secret spot off the beaten track
This is the second time we have stayed here, having first discovered this place on our honeymoon 5 years ago. Couldn't wait to stay here again as loved it so much the first time, and were not disappointed. Fabulous location in a quiet village up in the mountains and only 20 minutes from the coast. If you want a nice stay away from the hustle and bustle of the more touristy resorts and hotels this is perfect. The restaurant just round the corner also offers very tasty food :) Delicious Pesto Pasta and of course the Midnight sauce :)

I was very excited to stay at this inn. I was greeted by a nice woman when I arrived. The room seemed clean and the price was good....when I returned from dinner and tried to shower later in the evening there was no hot water. I tried every way possible to get hot water in shower . The bed was not a mattress it was a box spring with the springs that dug into my ribs all night. there was a terrible sewer smell coming from the drain in the bathroom. I had to shut the bathroom door so I could not smell it from the bed. The Wi-Fi never hooked up. The next morning I tried to shower at 6- still no hot water. argh. I pointed out the deficiencies to the owner and he rudely denied all the realities. When I brought him to the room miraculously there was hot water. this tells me they must turn it off and on at certain hours to save money- which is fine if they tell guests that. The owner was nasty. He refused to adjust my bill. Did nothing to make up for the horrendously uncomfortable night I spent there. Sadly this business is a small business and I am a champion of small businesses. But service and comfort is necessary when one has an inn..... I hope these comments point out to the owner that the comfort of a room, warm water and clean air free of sewer gas emanating from the sink and Wi-Fi as promised should be the least one could expect. The small price of adjusting my bill would have shown caring and good business practices. Rude nasty responses to my discomfort was unacceptable.

I remember you very well. When you told me that you couldnt sleep because of the springs in the matrasses I had the feeling you were trying to be smart. Not one of our matrassess have springs. We do not shut down water heating during the night and that was the second thing that made me think you were trying to be smart. You proposed the room free of charge and in addition your dinner..........Next time, please, be a little bit more serious.

All's good!
We stayed here for just one night, but it was one of the more memorable locations we stayed at during our tour of northern Italy. The hotel was clean, quiet and comfortable, and the surrounding area was extremely restful. The small village base was ideal for us, providing a very relaxing environment that was extremely attractive. We would also recommend eating at the restaurant run by the hotel owners a short distance away, which provided a range of delicious home-made meals. Overall, this hotel provided exactly what we were looking for at a very attractive price.

Modest but excellent within its limits
The hotel was clean and in good condition and in a superb situation. The proprietor and his wife were helpful and charming, both speaking good English. Their restaurant within the village was very good too. The village, which is quiet and peaceful, is set in spectacular scenery and there are wonderful drives around the hotel. The village of Castelvecchio, a few miles inland, was particularly interesting. We decided to stay here as an alternative to staying on the coast and are very pleased that we did.

Charming hotel in a beautiful vilage
A really charming hotel, we really enjoyed our stay and will definitely be going back. Balestrino is a charming little Italian village with views of lush green forests one way and the gorgeous med sea the other way. The owners were really friendly and speak good French and English. They also own a restaurant in the village and the food is spectacular! So glad we booked for two nights so we could relax and enjoy this special place. We did drive down to the Coast but it was so busy and hot that just drove straight back to sit by the pool and chill! I can highly recommend this hotel.

Friendly multi-lingual owners go out of their way to make your stay easy and comfortable. Rooms were simple, clean and smart. Hotel also had a small pool and sun deck which I had been unaware of when I booked, and they were immaculately clean. Balestrino is a small village offering panoramic views and a couple of local restaurants serving good local dishes. We enjoyed it for one night, the village was too small to keep us occupied for two. Lovely friendly people in the village.

Ottimo soggiorno in campagna con il mare comunque vicino per chi volesse scendere sulla costa. Bella la piscina, ottima la colazione. Ci sono molti insetti ma le zanzariere nelle stanze funzionano bene. Possibilità di cenare nella struttura ma ci sono ugualmente nei paraggi ottimi ristoranti locali

Wir waren schon das zweite Mal Gäste im Ca‘ de Berna. Ein herzliches Dankeschön an die Besitzer Christina und Raymondo, welche sich sehr um das Wohl der Gäste bemühen. Auch das Abendessen war immer sehr gut. Es war uns rundum wohl, wir kommen gerne wider😊

Fantastiskt och personligt bemötande av paret som tar hand om hotellet. Ligger vackert uppe bland kullarna i lugn och mysig liten by. Passade som ett perfekt stopp på vår roadtrip med fina stränder nära till hands.

Fantastisch verblijf en warme ontvangst door gastvrouw en gastheer. Locatie is rustig en heel mooi gelegen in de bergen. De omgeving is zo vlak bij zee heelgeschikt om te wandelen.

Un bon petit hôtel au calme dans la montagne.
Nous avons passé un agréable séjour dans ce petit hotel charmant et très bien tenu. C'est simple, propre, calme. La petite piscine est très agréable. Les petits déjeuners et les dîner que nous avons pris sur place étaient délicieux. Les propriétaires sont adorables. Nous recommandons chaleureusement.

Unser Aufenthalt bei Ca'de Berna war sehr angenehm und erholsam. Wir haben uns einige Tage Auszeit gewünscht und konnten uns super entspannen. Das Haus befindet sich an einem ruhigem Ort mit wunderschöner Natur und mit (im Sommer) nicht so hohen Temperaturen. Die Eigentümer sind sehr freundlich und haben für uns sogar eine Buchungsänderung kurzfristig durchgeführt. Damit hatten wir nicht gerechnet und waren sehr positiv überrascht. Sehr empfehlenswert für alle die ein ruhiges, sauberes und familiäres Hotel suchen.

Lille hyggeligt hotel i smukke omgivelser
Lille hyggeligt familiedrevet hotel som levede fuldt op til beskrivelsen og prisen. Kan varmt anbefales. Ejerne var søde og hjælpsomme. Det var en lille pool, men fin til en lille dukkert.

Berge und Meer
Familiengeführtes Hotel in den Bergen. Ein wunderbarer Ort um Ruhe zu finden und auch für Kinder ein schöner, sicherer Ort abseits der Touristenstrände. Der Ort ist in der Nähe von Tairano (sehenswerte Tropfsteinhöle) und hat durch die alte Burg und die Naturnähe etwas mystisches. Im Dorf gibt es mehrere Restaurants, ein Cafe und einen kleinen Laden. Das Hotel hat ebenfalls ein kleines Restaurant mit ligurischer Küche, das ich empfehlen kann. Wir haben den Aufenthalt sehr genossen!

Bonne adresse au calme
Petit hôtel dans les collines vers 400 m d'altitude. Chambre avec belle vue sur la montagne et calme royal. Accueil charmant et très bon repas. Petit déjeuner sympathique. A 10 mn de la sortie d'autoroute. Petite piscine pas testée.

Très bien propre juste la piscine l’eau qui sentait l’eau croupie en plus très froide sinon à recommander très bonne cuisine italienne

Sehr nette Betreiber des Hotels. Sie waren immer hilfsbereit, aber niemals aufdringlich. Sehr guter Kaffee zum Frühstück. Der Ort Balestrino ist sehr ruhig, ideal zum Entspannen.
