I had a bad experience at this hotel. I checked in online the night before and selected a room on the 8th floor (to avoid street noise) with a king size bed. When I arrived, they put me in a small room on the 6th floor with two small twin beds. The bed was uncomfortable. I could feel the springs. They said that is all they had even though I had checked in on line the day before. I always do this at NH hotels, that's why I like NH. The room was noisy, small and moldy. The hotel itself is old but I must have gotten the worse room in the whole place because most the reviews were great. That was not the case with my room. I didn't stay. I checked out and went to another hotel. The reception did not offer any alternatives. This is not to NH standards. I would not recommend staying here.

The room had no air conditioning, which is contrary to what was advertised on Expedia. Although the explanation at the front desk was that the air conditioner in all rooms were turned off due to being winter-time, the days I stayed were summer temperatures at over 80 degrees. And to make matters worse, there were a lack of fans being distributed. If the Expedia advertising were honest and accurate concerning the air conditioners being turned off, I would have never booked the three nights. And what does it take to turn the air conditioners on for a few days? I attribute the problem to bad management.

Good location
The room housekeeper, Cyd a really great job of keeping my room neat and clean and stocked. The desk staff was responsive and I even got a room when I arrived early in the morning. Was a little difficult at first to figure out how to get my laundry done and were room service was because no one was answering the phone. Then I and where room service was because no one was answering the phone. Then I found the code

Se olvidaban de hacer el cuarto pedí cama extra llegue a media noche y no había cama extra tuve que sacar otro cuarto por una noche porque a esa hora no había personal para colocar la cama yno entrábamos ,otro día llamo para room service nadie contestó el teléfono ni el restaurante ni la recepción me quede sin desayunar .Lo bueno está bien localizado dos cuadras de los comercios, restaurantes.

Property is getting old and could use an update. There is no air conditioning in the rooms at this time of year (September, their winter/early spring) and the rooms were quite hot. Flooring is scratched up to hell. Barely any space between the sink and the shower glass to enter the shower. It was a functional hotel but pretty average.

There as a receptionist name Mariana that try to make me made to pay a covi test 360$ at the lab it was 80$ , she try to make me May again 189$ she was very inept treatend and rude confuse me . Se cud not even print my bording pass.. She ask me to take her to miami ?? Is she weird or gay? I am married . The rest was great and very nice . Te breakfast was good but boring as the rest . The rest of the staff were great The back area of the hotel was the old city dangerous after 7 pm. This lady scream at me and told me to remember that I were at ueruguay not at America . She also put me in a dirty room. And the cleaning lady don’t let her to do it . The other receptionists were adorable . I think that she hAve some kind of combination profit for her self’s from this bill excess . One of her peers told me that she left a mess. I love te nh hotels but this lady Make me feel unsafe and uncomfortable there.

It is okay for an affordable price but rooms should be cleaned better. My air conditioner had some weird noise and when I noticed it it was “fixed” but when put in High mode, the noise started again. Staff were very friendly though.

Property is in remodelation. This should be disclosed. Our room was dirty, walls covered with dust and mold. Air Conditioner was dirty and filters completed clogged with dust. Altough they putted us in another room, hotel staff did not apologize and seemed to be angry about our grievance.The hotel although centric its surroundings do not feel as a safe place to hang out at night.

Lots of renovations under way. No A/C. Supplied fan. Lots of tour buses unloading. Very good breakfast buffet. Sketchy broken elevator door. Nice location, but we got a city view. Maybe after the reno.

Rude and not helpful staff. No hot water for mate, no kattle. No way to prepare the coffee and tea in your room. If you go to the restaurant to get hot water, you must have your thermo. Shower broke and leaking. Disappointed.

Great view and location. WiFi worked great. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The only drawback is the property is a bit dated but it looks like they may be in the process of doing some remodeling.

I had requested a double bed, was given twin beds and told that I would be able to change rooms the following day but I did not follow this up. Only lighting in the bed area of the room was a wall lamp - not so good for reading. Went to go to restaurant for dinner on Wednesday night - it was closed so only pub food available. Breakfast the following day - no bread to make toast. At checkout, I wanted to pay cash, but they were not able to give change for bill of $11 from $50 note (rough conversion). Shower in the room was ridiculously high and whole bathroom got wet. One or two little things, but several make me wonder what’s going on. Received message from hotel after my poor rating on arrival (in Spanish which I do not read), but I had not followed this up as changing rooms during a 2 night stay is a pain.

great location right on the Rambla and water. views were mostly gorgeous. in the "old town" part of Montevideo. walking distance to markets, cafe's, Teatro Solis and many great restaurants.

Hotel was overall ok. Room size was adequate, lobby was nice and big, everything seemed to be in pretty good condition. We didn't have any issues with the area even though we were told it wasn't a good idea to go out in the evening on foot. Finding food outside the hotel in the evening was a bit of a challenge as most things were closed in old town. Hotel was quiet and it was an uneventful stay. I'd go back.

The property had great views of the Atlantic. However, the hotel needed quite a bit of updating: doors, hallways, etc. The style was like most NH hotels. The staff was great.

I really enjoyed staying in this hotel. The Ciudad Vieja is a lovely area of Montevideo, with great architecture, cafes, restaurants, museums and easy access to the ferry to Buenos Aires. It’s also situated on the rambla so was very handy for going along beside the river. The room was lovely. I had a river view, comfortable bed and amenities. And a kettle! Much appreciated for a cup of tea. I used room service a couple of times for dinner and the food and service were great. All the staff I interacted with were lovely and friendly. The area is a bit of a strange one as it’s deserted at the weekend which made for a strange walk on the Sunday after I arrived. During the week it was really lively, with a mixture of locals, tourists and cruise ship guests. Recommendations are LUCCA, Sin Pretenciones and Sometimes Sunday for brunch and lunch. As in other reviews I noticed that the public areas on the floors were a bit shabby. But that didn’t really bother me. I also read about safety but it was totally fine during the day and I took a taxi at night, as I would in any city. I had a great time in Montevideo and really want to come back.
