"Great value & location for Upper East Side"
While this isn't the Plaza or a premier hotel, The Bentley was a respectable price for a good hotel in the typically unaffordable Upper East Side. It is 3 blocks from a good Metro subway station (at Bloomingdale's), and right off the East River. Decent size room, good bedding, small but doable bathroom, nice little bar in lobby (say hi to Julian, great bartender/guy). Didn't get to try rooftop restaurant/bar due to Jewish holy days that had it walled off from view. Note: small annoyances included: no fan in bathroom, which fogged up big window onto the bridge and river mightily; partial door to shower means puddles on floor after shower; red light on phone never stopped blinking in four days and four calls to fix; and had to call the engineer each day to reset the AC thermostat, which simply would not stay working. Just this room? Who knows. Finally: found out last day that they have a car service that took us so comfortably to airport for a couple $ more than the taxi coming in cost. Ask about it for arrival pickup when booking.

"Plain and simple, not a finer hotel in New York."
I travelled to New York last week and had the great pleasure of staying at The Lowell for the first time. A dear friend recommended the Lowell and it exceeded my expectations. The Lowell could not have provided a lovelier, silkier stay for me. Absolute perfection. John, the concierge, was aware my stay coincided with my birthday and a bottle of champagne and a chocolate birthday cake were awaiting me in my room. I've no doubt, had I asked, a dozen staff would have been upstairs singing "Happy Birthday" to me, just because that's the perfect elegance of The Lowell. The hotel is absolute perfection; I cannot wait to return. And I had the great privilege of seeing the Pope to boot! His Holiness would have loved The Lowell. Kindest regards to everyone who made my stay an absolute joy.

Spent a week in New York and stayed at this hotel. Great location for access to main NY attractions. Excellent restaurant although a bit on the pricey side.

"Close to Museum Mile"
Rooms are small, but the bed is clean and comfortable. Bathrooms are very small, but clean. The hotel in general needs a little sprucing up. Staff is very nice. If you want to be walking distance to the Metropolitan Museum of Art and Central Park this is a good place to stay.

"Nice hotel, liked the location"
I had read a few random reviews that the hotel was not clean and staff was not helpful. This was NOT my experience. The staff was friendly and helpful. The housekeeping staff was excellent. I personally liked the quiet neighborhood. There were plenty of restaurants 2-3 blocks away. I don't usually stay that far east in Manhattan and especially liked walking along the river. We had an event on the upper east side and this was a great location for our trip.

"Nice hotel close to family we were visiting."
Only one negative thing to say and that was the late at night noise of either construction or removal of street debris?? We could never figure out what the cause of this noise was but, it woke us up several times during the nights we were there.

"Slept like a baby!"
This spot is very quiet and I stayed with 3 visiting teens from Florida. They slept in the pullout sofa very comfortably and I took the bedroom. There's a small kitchen area, small bathroom but the host is wonderful with a great breakfast offering, delivered exactly when promised and it was plentiful. We needed a spot to sleep after seeing US Open Tennis that went late to midnight so it was a great respite, just a bit far east in NYC from the subway.
