Spectacular mountain views in a romantic location. Close to Mojacar beaches.

Casa Jacaranda is a comfortable villa located on a headland in the Moorish village of Cortijo Cabrera. Floor to ceiling windows make the most of the spectacular scenery and there are wonderful 360 degree mountain views from the pool area. It is the ideal villa for a couple, two couples or families with older children (recommended minimum age 8+) that wish to take a break in a quiet, romantic setting.

The bedrooms, lounge and dining room are all equipped with air conditioning units. The living room is particularly spacious and equipped with leather sofas, internet, television and a fantastic woodburning stove for the winter months which offer great daytime weather. In addition, the property benefits from gas-fired central heating.

The outside wrap-around terrace is accessed from multiple points from the house which makes everything flow very easily. The patio is an entertainer’s dream, the focal point being the 32m2 swimming pool of uniform 1.2m depth surrounded by staggering views. There are several different relaxation areas around the house and a partially enclosed outdoor shower.

The pool side of the house is a sun trap which you can enjoy until the last rays disappear in the far-distant hills. Cabrera is a place which offers the most incredible sunsets, a vision that you can never tire of as each one is different. In the evenings, the remoteness and low level of surrounding light makes for some superb star-gazing.

Cortijo Cabrera is a small mountain village located in the Sierra Cabrera mountain range in an area of outstanding natural beauty. All the houses have been built in Moorish style and painted in the specific Tiera Cabrera colour to blend into the mountainside.

We love it because of its elevated position in the mountains, in an area where building would probably not be permitted today. The remoteness means that you can enjoy fantastic views and sunshine with the convenience of your own pool at your doorstep.

A visit to the beach is only a 20 minute drive away. Mojacar Playa has a vast array of beautiful blue flag beaches, fabulous chiringuitos (beach bars) where you can often enjoy live music, cocktails, and an array of seafood, tapas and paella. Mojacar Playa consists mostly of low-rise buildings which makes it all the more attractive. And best of all, after an enjoyable day out to the beaches, you can return and take a splash in the pool together with a refreshing drink!

There is a local bar (The Arch Bar) in the centre of Cabrera Village within walking distance where tapas is served (a short distance but good exercise!). There is also a very good restaurant nearby called Riad Cabrera (also known as Fatima’s). A short drive down the mountain leads to Cortijo Grande where you can find another bar/restaurant called La Almazara.

The local village of Turre is a 12 minute drive away and offers an array of shops and restaurants. Other scenic villages such as Mojacar Pueblo (the quaint whitewashed ‘old Town’ of Mojacar), Bedar and Lubrin are only a short drive away and a day trip around the neighbouring Capo Da Gato nature reserve is highly recommended. Children: The property has two bedrooms, one on the ground floor and one on the first floor. This may not be a suitable arrangement for younger children, hence we suggest age 8+. In addition, there is an open pool area and a very steep garden. It is therefore advisable that children are closely supervised. The garden should not be used as a play area.

We were drawn to Cabrera as we were looking for a home with a warm climate which was not humid, which was located in a mountainous region, had a pool and was close to the sea which was of a pleasant, swimmable temperature. Cabrera is located in the only official desert in Europe and fits the bill completely. Having grown up in South Africa, Cabrera offers us a very good match. We hope that our guests will also appreciate the spectacular mountain environment and wildlife.
