Surrounded by beautiful trees the cottage has a huge deck area off the lounge for relaxing and having meals outside with a fully fenced private front yard. A new log fire and electric heating for those crisp winter nights. Only a short walk to the famous trout fishing Tongariro River and beautiful river walks and tramps. The town is also only a few minutes walk away and has all conveniences one needs eg supermarkets cafes chemist etc. Lake Taupo is also only a few minutes drive away with lovely picturesque bays for boating, swimming, fishing and picnicing. The ski fields are 30 minutes drive away. There are so many activities to do in this area eg white water rafting, tramping, fishing, hunting, sking and dinning out in the area. The amenities were not as advertised. For example, there wasn’t a coffee grinder, the washer had someone’s wet clothes still in it, etc. We had to bring our own sheets and towels (which the host said was a local norm, but we asked a handful of locals who said this was not normal). We also had to dispose of our trash at a dump at a cost! The host was very persistent that we call him to get instructions on how to enter the cottage, and I had to explain multiple times that my phone couldn’t connect the call. The host eventually explained the house instructions via messages, which wasn’t complicated at all. Check out instructions were only available via the VRBO app, and there is no wifi. This just made it not as smooth. But the aircon was broken which made the hot summer days stifling and unpleasant. You cannot advertise the property as having aircon if it is broken. Also, the bathroom tap was leaking and very noisy - a bit annoying when trying to sleep.
