The Hotel Bakeriet is an exceptional choice for visiting the center of Trondheim in terms of location, amenities, and the history of the place. The staff are also incredibly friendly and helpful.

Bakariet hotel in Trondheim
On the positive side the location was good. Staff were friendly. Covid rules followed. Nice breakfast. Negative was that room was located on ground floor. No ventilation so window was open to noisy area. Heating in bathroom was far too high and not able to turn off even by staff. Floors were not clean in room. Poor cleaning in room. Cleaning lady trying to enter room early when sign said do not disturb. Will not that there again.

The location in the middle of the town was perfect. The view from the room not great but with some character and history out to the old narrow cobbled stone roads. Street parking outside the hotel worked out for us during these not so busy summer vacation times. Electric car charger parking should be a must have for any hotel in Norway though in 2020. Anyway, the staff was friendly and swift and the breakfast selection at the buffet was offering what the family including one vegetarian needed. Good filter coffee, medium freshly ground machine coffee. The room although was a bit of a disappointment though. Out family room was big and had a big bath room, but was missing the last touch of making it cosy. Sometimes when you enter a hotel room you see some details and design features that you take notes of and want to try have at home. This room was lacking this. All things necessary was there but a bit “Lieblos” put together as they would say in Germany. Everything was clean enough but just that. And the bathroom had this black grime in the corners of the shower that you can’t wash away anymore. The comunale areas were in good shape and we liked the history of this building.

The hotel Bakeriet was just ok. The best about the hotel was the location, within easy walking distance of Trondheim’s activities, and the beds were comfy and clean, the receptionists were friendly, there is a small gym, and laundry facilities. The breakfast buffet was also good, except the one time when the entire plate of sliced cheese was moldy and nobody seemed to notice. I told the chef and he switched it all out. The decor and furnishings are all very tired and somewhat grubby - every single chair in the breakfast room was stained, not sure if they ever wipe the tables, and the carpet in the public areas, stairs etc was also grubby and dated. The most modern area was the downstairs where there is a small gym, sauna and some showers. If the rest of the hotel looked like this - that would be awesome!

This is a great location close to most attractions in Trondheim. The breakfast was good and the dinner was a nice extra. Beds were comfortable and the room clean. I would stay there again.

What a find in Trondheim! This is a fantastic and charming place to stay...good price, great location (so close to the train station!) and fabulous services. We were impressed to learn upon check in that the hotel offers a full buffet dinner and waffle afternoon coffee break, in addition to a buffet breakfast. It also offers guests access to a sauna from late afternoon into the evening. Our room was a good size compared to most others we've experienced in Norway, and the beds were really comfortable. Stay here on your next visit to Trondheim!

Location Amazing but...
I wanted to really like this hotel as the building is a neat old bread factory/bakery and I really like the elements they incorporated into the design and decor. The location is also really amazing as far as being close to all the sights, restaurants and grocery stores and it all was very walkable. We got lucky with parking as we found a spot right in front of the hotel and since it was the weekend it was free; not sure what parking would have been like or cost if there was not a spot. The room was decent but I hated the bed; every time I moved it felt and sounded like loud paper crinkling. We also had a room along the street and while the traffic noise was not horrible the local Pubs around the hotel were very noisy all the way until about 3am due to it being the weekend. Saturday night was the worst and we got little sleep. Sunday was slightly better due to not all of them being open and if they were they closed earlier. I would imagine it would not be that bad during the weekday or just make sure to ask for a room away from the street. Free breakfast and the free dinner were both ok and definitely help if on a budget.
