The building was nice and the staff was friendly. When I checked into the room the bathroom had mold in the grout and excessive mold throughout the shower. I took a picture showed the front desk, they agreed it was disgusting, they moved me to another room, mold in the bathroom again all around the toilet and in the shower again. If the bathrooms can’t be maintained, it made me wonder what else isn’t cleaned. I slept one night in my clothes on top of the sheets, slipped the shower. Complete waste of $160

The Doubletree was clean and nice! The breakfast was delicious! My son really enjoyed to pool and hot tub! The back elevator needs some TLC however! Overall it was a nice place to stay!

The hotel is very nice albeit beginning to show its age. The location is excellent and the indoor pool was inviting although we did not use it. I like a hotel with a bar available although, again, we had a rather busy trip and did not use it. My only real complaint is the slow, small and creaky elevator that serves the entire hotel.

Was told over the phone the pool and hot tub were in operation which was the main reason I chose this hotel. Upon check in I was told they were not in operation due to repairs. I realize hotels need to make money but lying to get people to stay is absolutely wrong. I was given the opportunity to cancel my reservation without charges, however, it was later in the evening already and we are from now it of town and needed a hotel at that moment. That would’ve been impossible for us to do. What a crock! I will never stay at a doubletree again and I will always give others a bad review of the chain.

The staff here across the board is great, attentive and supportive. Breakfast was reasonable. The hotel is showing age and lack of attention. Shower entry ledge had mildew and maybe mold(?). Little things no pens or notepads. Bed was good location good. A 3.5 score bolstered by the hotel team.

We came to town for the KU basketball game on November 28th. The staff was very welcoming and friendly. I have never had a good hotel experience in Lawrence KS until I stayed at this place. The other hotels in town could learn so much from how your operation conducts business and treats their guests. Kudos to your staff, from the front desk attendants, the cleaning staff, and restaurant staff, I was so impressed with their kindness and professionalism. If I’m ever in Lawrence KS again, there’s no doubt I’ll be staying with you. Thank you for an amazing stay!

Room was next to the exit door. Very noisy. Electric outlets weren't working. Needed for work. Maintenance was very responsive. Heavy furniture had to be moved. Maintenance even said "this is embarrassing. Sorry."

Not a Very Good Experience
The hotel was taken over by a wedding party and a childrens sports team. The front desk manager didn't inform me when I asked about the emmenaties at check in. I wasnt able to use the pool or hottub as there were children running back and forth from the pool to the hottub. There were kids running all over the hallways and lobby for hours at night (racing) unsupervised after 8pm. After 8 pm there were kids running in and out of the bar. I had to order my food to the room and I wasnt able to enjoy any of the emmenaties. At breakfast children were playing around disturbing other guest and myself. I listen to a parent telling a group of kids to be careful while they run around and play unsupervised. The breakfast staff stood there and watched and didnt say anything to the guest about their children being disruptive. I checked out early because of all the commotion. When I got my receipt at checkout there was someone elses name on it. The front desk manager told me when I complained that the wedding party and sports team booked most of the rooms and there was not much she could do about it.

We would stay again!
It was a nice place to stay, very nice fitness room, the breakfast was really average which was surprising, the front desk was always very helpful, but I was disappointed that we had to ask for the free cookies and for our breakfast coupons that we had prepaid for. The beds were comfy and the shower was clean. We had one nice thick towel the other one was thin like a pool towel.

Desperately needs a remodel.
Staff was very nice. The whole hotel is desperate for a remodel. Pool is in the center of the lobby. The lobby outside the bar is closed at 10:00. They close it down because of the noise. I probably wouldn’t stay here again.

My AC didn’t work at first, but a service man came within 5 minutes of my call downstairs. He was cheerful and professional, completing the fix and checking on the work 20 minutes later.

Have stayed here several times as my son goes to KU. I realize that parents weekend is a busy weekend but the fact that they charge $875/night should be against the law. I spoke to the manager and nothing was done. The hotel is dated, bathroom floor dirty, bathroom ceiling tiles cracked. With the limited options in Lawrence, it allows hotels like this to take advantage of people which is just not right.
