The room is clean and good size. Its quiet even though there are many interesting PUB and drinking joints all around. Its really safe here, compared to Kabukichou-area. The breakfast spread is good and great tasting. All counter staff are friendly and helpful. Check out time is 12noon. Most guests are young couples.

Pros: location Cons: old building, we got a room near to the fire escape stairs so it was extremely noisy most of the time as it seems the washing machines of the cleaning service are upstairs and they use them to go up

A Bargain in Shinjuke
This is a basic hotel with very small rooms. Breakfast was just bread, hardboiled eggs, juice and coffee. Located in an area with many gay bars.

Quaint little place in a big neighborhood
As long as you are well aware that the room will be small, your expectations will be fully met. Bed is hard, but that is the norm for Japanese accommodations. Small touches were appreciated. Slippers, towel basket, toothbrush just to name a few.

Very uncomfortable beds, very old hotel
This hotel is clearly very old and consequently just seems a bit dirty. It was also the least comfortable bed I’ve ever slept on in my whole life. Felt like sleeping on the floor. Good thing we only stayed one night because we hardly got any sleep at all!

Close to subway. Quick Check in and Check out. Most of the staffs are nice except one that handle the check in for me without a smile. Room is quite old (although it is clean) and not much soundproof, you can hear clearly others open/shutting doors from the corridor or staffs cleaning up in the morning.

I found it very difficult to find. Asking many people, nobody recognised the street. I didn’t find the area particularly pleasant. The hotel staff weren’t as helpful or friendly as other hotels I have stayed in and while it was a reasonable price, it was s little dowdy and run down. Probably wouldn’t stay there again.

I like how its near to shopping destinations and has a lot of dining options around. I wasn’t expecting the room to have amenities like toothbrush, shampoo, hair dryer so that’s a huge plus! They also let us leave the luggage for a few hours after checkout. Yay! My only concern was its in somewhat of a gay district and people around can be loud although it didn’t really disturb my sleep. Im also slightly concerned with security since they ask us to leave the keys with the reception when we go out but when we come back we just tell them the room number and they give the key right away without verification. Its less hassle but I can imagine a security issue here.

I stayed two nights at City Hotel Lone Star. The hotel is located in the center of Shinjuku. Subway station is just steps away or walking to Shinjuku station (within 10 minutes.) is good way to sightseeing. So convenient for shopping and eating. The hotel room is small ( Remember here is Japan ), but very clean and neat, well organized. Breakfast is simple and good. Front desk staff was friendly and helpful. Overall, really good value for money. I’ll be back! I recommend one day trip for Hakone Onsen. Take Romance Car at Shinjuku station to Hakone.(90min.)

Deluxe Individual Room is tiny
The room looked like the photos but was really small. I don’t recommend that 2 people stay in an individual deluxe room. The staff was polite but spoke very little English. The breakfast was very basic but okay. The best thing about the Hotel was the location. Overall good value for the price.

Property was nice. Single rooms are small and may be uncomfortable for bigger guests. The biggest issue was that it’s near some very loud bars. The bars were very noisy and can make sleeping difficult. I know it’s not the hotel’s fault but potential guests should be aware.

Awesome location
Great place to stay. Everything is within walking distance. Only downside was that the room we were in smelled like smoke. I believe those rooms where smoking room but they have recently converted them to non-smoking room.

Hotel was nice enough. The breakfast was just enough. We were disappointed that there was construction during our stay, because we could hear it and it affected things. Also, the bathrooms are old and the beds are VERY firm. This is a great place if you want to stay close to the best gay bars in Tokyo and don't want to spend too much money.

The location is great, just around 2 min from the train station. Also walking distance to the Shinjuku area. Love the free continental breakfast as well. But please beware it simple, nothing fancy, better than nothing right? The only downside is the stairs to the reception. If you have large suitcases, you will have to carry these up the stairs. It a shame there is no one to carry or an elevator to the reception. As most of us would have travel a bit and don't want to carry the suitcase up the stairs.

The only negative thing to say is that the room is very small, but I think that’s just it is in Japan. There were good amenities there, it was close to a lot of shopping areas but also quiet at night. I’d stay here again if I were in Tokyo.

Great Affordable Stay in a Great Location
The hotel and the room was clean and had everything we could need! Service fantastic and the provided breakfast was great for travellers on a budget. Location was also great, just a short walk to Shinjuku Station and the Kabuchiko district. My only downside was the bed itself - very hard mattress, that for someone like me with back issues was not comfortable. However, it was not a big enough of a problem to bother me too much.

Really good service and excellent location
The service was amazing, especially for the price. They cleaned our room each day. The breakfast was better than expected with varying drinks and pastries by day. It also had really good soft boiled eggs. The location was excellent, in close proximity to shopping and bars without being loud. Ourn one complaint would be that the bed was very hard and you pretty much had to sleep on your back.

Everything about room was uncomfortable, and staff were unpleasant. Room looked clean when viewed from afar but up close, there were areas of unvacuumed carpet under desks and around the air conditioning. It was so bad that i found other guests' hair ties there. Internet also didn't work for our room. I also tried to contact the hotel prior to check in through phone and expedia messaging to arrange a late check in, however i was rudely ignored via email, and over the phone they asked me to send an email which i already did. So in the end, i didn't get a late check in and had to rearrange the plans for the day (including changing shinkansen tickets) just to check in early. Not pleased at all.

Nice hotel with many eateries nearby. Staff were nice and processional. Breakfast was simple but more than sufficuent to start the day. For those travelling with kids, just be careful when the kids channel surf on TV as there are previews and advertistment for paid adult shows on some channels.
